Chance me/advice

hello. this is my first post on here, so please – i beg you, be gentle!

anyway, i’m a sophomore in a private high school and i really need some advice on what to do my junior and senior year.

right now, my academic career has gone like this:

freshman –
gpa: 3.2 (top half)
clubs: peer tutoring, musical tech management
i swam outside of school that year and so did not have time to do any in-school sports

sophomore –
[i’ve improved quite a bit as i’ve gotten accustomed to high school]
gpa: 3.6 (top quarter)
clubs: peer tutoring, environmental club, gay-straight alliance, charity club (i’m an officer)
sports: varsity swimming (i swam outside of school as well)

at the moment, i only have a few seconds to lose in order to ‘keep up’ with the rest of brown’s swimmers and i would like to swim in college.

next year, i plan to join varsity volleyball, the debate team, and model un (i expect to be an officer).

i have yet to take any SAT’s or Subject Tests but my recent SAT practice test (including the essay) added up to a 2040. i know this is low but i have recently started working with a tutor and attending SAT classes. i’m aiming for around a 2250.

i’m also planning to take SAT Math 1 next year, and also SAT French at the end of Junior year. i’m curious to know if i should take another SAT subject test or if two are sufficient.

also, i must add that next year i am taking three AP courses –
AP art history, AP us history, and AP English lang.

senior year, i am planning to take –
AP english lit, AP euro, AP statistics, and AP calc.

i expect to rack up approximately 400 hours of community service working with underprivileged children by the end of Junior year.

the one thing i think will set me apart from the rest of the candidates is my love for fashion. i volunteer during fashion week at shows and am very educated in high fashion. i plan to attend FIT this summer like i did last summer for fashion design. i’m fairly talented in drawing.

what do i need to do in order to be accepted into brown? (SAT #'s, extracurriculars, etc.)

You seem to have great ECs with fashion, community service and swimming. I think you can express your interest to the swim coach if you plan on swimming in college. If it is possible to lower your times to D1 levels, that would be a great hook for you.

You also asked about SAT scores. You can check them on the admitted student links, but I think they would be somewhat lower for recruited athletes.

I concur with what burry said, however the only thing that is possibly holding you back is your GPA. I recommend that you aim for that 4.0 and really work for it, as of course it would boost up your unweighted GPA.

If this private high school is anything like mine, a 4.0 is pretty much impossible. With that said, aiming for above the top quarter in your next year and a half wouldn’t hurt your chances, certainly.
