Chance me again please!!! Really need help!!!!

GPA: 5.44 (unweighted)
GPA: around 3.5ish (weighted)
Rank: 77/613 (top 12% about) - new ranks haven’t come out yet but I’m anticipating a 0.1 drop in my unweighted GPA…
SAT: 800 M, 700 W, 690 R (2190 total) - idk if I should take it again (should I? I’m worried it might go down. probably won’t be able to get a perfect score on Math ever again)
SAT 2: Taking Math 2, Chemistry, and U.S. History this Saturday
ACT: 36 M, 35 R, 30 S, 29 W <- ( essay) (33 total)
ECs: Debate (3 years), DECA (3 years), YES club, Spanish National Honor Society (1 year), Red Cross (1 year)
Recs: Counselor agreed, planning on getting one from my English 2 teacher
AP: World History, English 3, Calculus AB, Computer Science 2, APUSH, Chemistry 2, Psychology, Human Geography, Government (summer), Macroeconomics (summer), English 4 (senior year), Environmental Science (senior), Comparative Government (senior), Microeconomics (senior), Statistics (senior)
Honors: Everything else except required classes like Speech, Health, Debate 1 (elective), Spanish 1, Spanish 2
Anticipated Major: Chemical Engineering or Business (most likely chemical engineering)
Colleges: UT Austin, TAMU College Station
Sports: Volleyball
Special: I volunteer as an MC for cultural events. I still have the videos that my parents took; my counselor said that I should send them to colleges when I apply.

**** ^^^^ Those were my previous stats.

GPA: 5.41 (unweighted)
GPA: 3.57 (weighted)
Rank: 130/611 (top 21%)

My rank is what I’m worried about!!! I went down a lot due to some personal problems in junior year. Unfortunately, they are too personal to mention them in the special circumstances essays… If I can get my rank up by at least 10-20 people (because I’m taking summer school and a lot of people aren’t) by September, do you think I would still be able to get into engineering at UT Austin, A&M College Station, or Baylor?

bump

I will predict you will get into Chem E at Texas A&M. I cannot even guess about UT. Chem E can be outrageously competitive and depends on the strength of your competition in your application pool. If you don’t get in Chem E, I would be concerned that McCombs may never even consider you. It seems they are interested in the students that put Business as a first choice major - and in some years is nearly as competitive to get into as some Engineering majors.

Your strengths in Math - particularly in your SAT and ACT scores will help you. I am guessing you are female - that may be a helpful factor for Engineering. If you really want to be in Engineering, consider a second choice in one of the less competitive Engineering majors or Chemistry in CNS. I feel like putting Business as second choice is like not putting a second choice at all.

Your rank - as you are concerned about - is what it is. There is no changing that between now and September. UT wants your class rank from grades 9 - 11. The rank you have now is what you will apply with.

If it takes a wild jump during first semester senior year - consider updating UT at that point.

Take time and effort with you essays. Good luck!

You should continue to take Calculus and Physics in your senior year if you aim for Engineering. The hardest ones available. I see Statistics in your senior schedule. Probably not your best choice if that is your only math course.

You will easily get into TAMU and Baylor for your desired field. UT might be hard because of your rank, but increasing your rank is easier said than done if everyone in front of you is aiming to do the same.

@lots2do I have finished most all math courses in school. I can only take AP Stats now. Also Business is not my second choice. I was just considering applying to either business or engineering. My first choice is probably Chem E, second would be Environmental engineering (if UT offers it, because I dont think A&M does), and third would probably be Mechanical engineering.
Also if you want to minor in something, does it have to be something from your alternate choices like environmental or mechanical engineering? I kinda want to minor in political science since I’m planning to go to law school after college…

I’m also considering Purdue and Georgia Tech and UI Urbana Champaign as out of state options.
