I have a good rec letter from english teacher and engineering teacher highlighting my ability as a student. I have a rec letter from a important figure at ut. he is an active leader with his alma mater where he serves on the McCombs Advisory Council, UT System Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee, UT Development Board, and Forty Acres Society.

My essays are very good and highlight me as an English Major for sure.

Schools

  • Safety *Texas Tech, Texas State
  • Likely * TCU
  • Match: Baylor, SMU
  • Reach: UT, A&M

I am also a published author. Wrote a book on James Dean

Self published ?

Based on academics, both are reaches. But you knew this b4 you asked. Anything below the guarantee is a reach. Your rank is too low as is your test.

I’m not sure SMU will happen. But it’s possible, if full pay. Baylor and TCU likely. May be too small but look at Sewanee. Also instead of UT look at Iowa for English.

Yes self published

Texas Tech’s automatic admission for second quartile rank is 1240 SAT, so you are not within the automatic admission range. But Texas State’s automatic admission for second quartile rank is 1090 SAT, so you will be automatically admitted there.

Cost constraints?

Nope, no constraints

I’ve bolded the schools that I moved in your list as to how I see your chances at these schools (i.e. moved Texas Tech to a likely and SMU to a reach).
