Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. AU is one of my top schools and I would love to be a part of the Honors Program. However, most of the information regarding who gets in seems anecdotal, so insight from anyone here would be greatly appreciated.
Demographic: white female, Northeast
uwGPA: 4.0
wGPA: 4.7
SAT: 1480
I am a full IB Diploma candidate and received a 7 in SL Economics last year. I also received 5s in AP US History and AP Lit.
ECs: heavy involvement in HS drama dept (assistant stage manager), a few long-term volunteer commitments, founded a writer’s group and teen literary magazine, VP of feminism-focused club, member of 4 honor societies (leadership positions in two)
LoR: all very solid, I think; all of my recommenders have taught me for at least two years
Essay: Pretty proud of it. I wrote about how I grew as a writer from trying and failing to write a novel. The story is a bit unconventional, but it is a good showcase of my voice and personality.
AU Honors Essays: I am very proud of these essays and helped refine them with a college counselor. I am happy to go into specifics about subject matter if necessary.
I have visited campus, met my regional rep at a college fair and later interviewed with her by phone. I know that sometimes AU will look dubiously at kids with higher-than-average stats who see it as a safety, so I have endeavored to let them know how interested I am. The regional rep definitely knows my interest level.
Also, I am applying RD for the School of Communications.
Thank you for any and all help/insight. I hope you have a wonderful day!
