Chance Me... An average student

Chance me at University of Texas. Compared to a vast number or people on this website, I seem like an average student.
Input on other top undergraduate business schools would greatly be appreciated!
Major: Business- Accounting

University of Texas Red McCombs Business School is my number one choice, as of now. I have chosen the University of Texas because it's within the state I live in. I will be applying general admission. I do not fall within the top 10% because my school does not rank students.*More on this later. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Other Schools im interested in include the following: Notre Dame, Virginia, and University of Michigan. Realistically my chances with those schools are slim, but I would like imput on what you all think my chances are. Any suggestions on other top schools I may be able to be admitted into would be greatly appreciated.

White Male

I go to a competitive catholic private school, Antonian College Preparatory, in the suburbs of San Antonio, Texas. Ranked a Top 50 Catholic High School in the nation in 2004, 2006, and 2007 by the Catholic Honor Roll. Antonian has been awarded the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award in 1999 and 2003. In 2004 Antonian was honored for being a Semifinalist in the Intel Twenty-first Century School of Distinction Award.

I am not technically ranked in the top 10% of my class. However, since my school does not rank, they ask the University of Texas to consider me a 10% student because in a normal public school my g.p.a would be equivalent to a student in the top 10% of their class. However, Texas does not have to consider me top 10% if they dont want to.

GPA: 3.86 (unweighted). 97.03 (Weighted Average throughout high school) I have taken nearly all Honors/AP Courses since my Sophomore year. I am currently ranked in the Mid 60's of my Senior Class, which has roughly 180 students, this equivaltes to being ranked in the top 40%.

Thanks for your input and help, it is greatly appreciated!!!

Your ACT is a bit low (25%ile of admitted), but I think other than that your application is fairly strong.

Have you thought of taking the SAT instead of the ACT?

Arachnotron:
I have taken the SAT, twice. However, I did poorly on the SAT too. I did better on my ACT than SAT.

However, my essays are strong. I hope my lack of score in standardize testing can be made up for in extracircular activities

Do well on essays then you will get in!

Thanks for the input yoonlee9

lol im a terrible test taker too, but colleges usually look at everything rather than focus on just one criteria, so as long as you ace that college app essay, i think you should be fine. you have plenty of extracurriculars, service, leadership, good GPA, so above all else, you should get in, especially if you chose business to major in.

What type of grade inflation do you have at your school?

ari102791
In all College Prep classes you receive 4 points.
In all Honors classes you receive 10 points.
In all AP classes you receive 12 points.

Im also graduating with 28 credits, which is more than required by the state of Texas.

thanks everyone

Yeah I agree, you ECSs and your GPA are solid for admission, but the standarized test scores do not help. Get it up to a 27 (which is possible because you superscored a 26)and I would consider you a very competitive applicant. Best of luck!
