I'm currently a junior in high school. I'm from Ohio but I want to go to an OOS school such as North Carolina CH, Duke, Georgia Tech, Florida, etc. I also want/need merit based aid. My stats are:

ACT: 36
GPA: UW 4.0; Weighted-4.5....5.0 this year
PSAT/NMSQT: 223, which is good enough for NMSF (most likely). I think I can get finalist.
I have taken the most rigorous class schedule possible at our school and have gotten straight A's. I will have AP classes upon graduation of: American History, Calc BC, Chem, Eng Language. I am a peer leader (go into younger grades and talk about drugs, etc.), i am in NHS, have other smaller EC's, and play varsity baseball. I am on pace to be valedictorian out of 300 kids. Anything else you need let me know. I appreciate it.

I don’t even know WHY you have to pose this as a question. You have (so far) a 4.0, a 36 ACT, and a projected SAT that’s very good. You should ask your guidance counselor about how your extra curricular activities stand, seeing as that and your essay are going to be the true ruling factors. I think you should clock in about 100 hours for volunteer, though, if you haven’t.

Merit aid in general, as in based on grades or something? Or for the PSAT? In general, I’d say you’d get a good chunk out, depending on your income & family member number… As a PSAT finalist, you have to go through several other tests to win, I think.

Well i figured i have a good shot of getting in. What I really wanted it to know is if I have a good shot at merit based aid from those types of schools while im OOS. I am the only kid going to be in college and income puts my EFC at about 15000
