Thank you to those that post advice and information on this Board. I have checked in every few weeks since my son toured PSU UP in the fall and he said it was his top choice. I have learned a lot from your posts. From reading here I know my son could be borderline. He is planning to apply DUS and will mark Summer Session. He will choose Altoona as 3rd choice.

ACT 26
Science- Chem, Bio and Physics completed Junior Year
Math- Completed through Pre-Calc Junior Year taking Calc 1 and Statistics this year

**Foreign Language- This is a concern. He only took 2 years of Spanish in 8th and 9th grade. His school switched to Trimesters and scheduling classes became difficult. His guidance counselor at the time told him he would be fine with 2 years, that most colleges are ok with that. Dropping the Spanish allowed him to take a wide range of Engineering and Business classes. He is taking French 1 this year. Too much time had passed to try and get back into Spanish 3. He is in the Mandarin Club at school and Mandarin Chinese is the language he plans to “begin” with in college.
How much will this affect him not having several years of a language?
**Does PSU limit number of students accepted from individual high schools? My son has approx 475 students in his class, so it’s a large school. He has a lot of friends with similar stats as him applying to PSU UP and he also has a lot of friends applying with higher stats. It sounded like there were only a few willing to go in the summer. I’m hoping that will make the difference.
Please give your thoughts on his chances with his stats. Also provide any insight to his foreign language situation and if you think there is limits set on individual schools. Thanks!!
