Take a look at the Patriot League colleges: [url=http://www.patriotleague.org/]The Patriot League - Official Athletic Site/url

You will get into respectable colleges such as William and Mary for sure, Carnegie Mellon if you want to.
I believe in you!!!
Get top standardized scores.

@pillowfight, is CMU good for poli-sci? I havent heard much but I know it’s an excellent college.
thanks again!

The class of 30 kids seems like a downer. I feel like colleges don’t have anyone else to compare the education level, and it’s hard to know how well you are doing with little to compare to. But If it helps, you are well above 80% of the kids in my school of 1500. The more you take the SAT, the better you get, so see how your scores improve next time.

the ivies and johns hopkins seem out, but thats keeping in mind you still ahve two more years, so Im gonna go ahead and say, your chances are at the middle area, and pending your performance for the next two years, it could really go whichever way you make it go. So dont worry too much. just keep high grades, and high ambitions. maybe a few more ECs and then youll be fine.

The Biology SAT II, I took the Molecular one, but it really depends on what your Biology course focuses on. I’m not a science person either, but Biology is really just memorization like history, around a 750 should be good for anywhere.

Jesus. 6 outa 30 lol…
that 25%tile is gonna hurt you SEVERELY.
If your school reports rank you are will be in a serious pickle.

The ivies are BIG BIG BIG reaches.
NYU - maybe if you ED.
BC- your kidding, anyone can get in blind. R u sure your not talking about the more prestigious Boston U?

hey… i was admitted to georgetown regular decision this past april, and as someone who relied pretty heavily on this website during the tedious college admissions process, feel obliged to offer my advice. but first i’d like to tell you (and i can’t stress this enough) to RELAX. i just graduated from a school that sounds very similar to yours (small, very competitive), and understand the pressure your teachers and parents are putting on you to get into a good school, but please hear me out! you are only HALF done with high school…so much can change! academically, i had a “rough” freshman year too (not to mention a 2 day suspension junior year…), but managed to graduate with a 4.6 unweighted GPA, 2250 SATS, 33 ACTS. your last 2 years of high school will fly by, and if you want to make the most of them, you should spend less time stressing about grades and numbers and more time figuring out what makes you unique. this is what is going to get you into georgetown! my interviewer told me that gerogetown could fill its class TWICE over with kids who have near-perfect test scores and impossibly high GPAs. admissions officers are looking for applicants who are passionate and DIFFERENT. like you, i have travelled the world extensively, and i capitalized off this as i filled out my application. travelled extensively, wants to study international relations, involved in internationally-oriented extracurriclars…its all about having a THEME. there’s nothing worse than being involved in 10 different activities that you like, but none that you love. i would reccomend that you do the same…DEFINATELY write your essay about exposure to other cultures, georgetown is a VERY international school and admissions officiers LOVE to see that kind of thing. and as for your grades…seriously, RELAX. if i hadn’t been so bothered by all of the college-related pressure i felt my junior and senior years, i might actually have been able to take something away from the AP classes i worked so hard to get A’s in. so please remember that passion is ALWAYS more important than perfection and don’t let the competition stress you out…it will all work out in the end! goodluck!!

and just an afterthought:
i know you have your heart set on georgetown…but if there’s one thing i learned while applying to colleges, it’s that you should ignore a school’s reputation. sure georgetown is internationally renowned and very prestigious, but it has its downfalls (campus isn’t wireless!) and you should read up on these–make sure gtown is where you REALLY want to go! look for a school you LOVE not a school with a fancy name. i tried to ignore prestige and looked at a bunch of up-and-coming schools in addiotion to georgetown (skidmore, university of rochester) and really liked them! if you’re feeling discouraged about gtown i REALLY reccommend looking at urochester it’s an awesome school!

wow thanks Talla. That was very useful.
and to CC’er, as odd as it sounds, our school does not rank at all. plus my rank is changing every second during the year (usually up one or two) because everyone is separated by a point or two. Either way, I can tell my grades are my weakness, but I am definitly going to work on those, as well as SAT boosting. Thanks for the constructive criticism guys!

CC’er, you’re(see this is correct english) an idiot. BC is much more prestigious than BU and also much more competitive. You prob got rejected from BC and went to BU cuz its so easy. 3.0 1500 is the average the BU, compared to 3.7 2000 for BC. tool

Yea, your SATs need improvement, but you have time… SATII’s have a great start with your 800 in US hist, but u need at least one more 800 (better that it not be in a language, but in a science or lit) Get 800 on Math II :).

Uhhh…you have pretty typical EC’s. Do u have any specific passions? because colleges love that. Go for more competitions this year. Awards are A BIG DEAL.

Chacne me

I don’t know what is wrong with everyone on this thread! I think the applicant has a fair shot at a lot of those schools. Maybe there is a hint of sarcasm beneath some of those comments? Personally, I think that your GPA, SAT’s, and SAT II’s are fine! If you didn’t take any AP classes because your school didn’t offer them, then that is not you fault!

I would say the ivies, besides Cornell, are all out of reach, however, you have a good list.

Work hard your junior year! Are you by any chance recruited in sports?

noo.
though i am a starter for both teams and our soccer team won the private league NY championship.
