Harvard - 1/4-1/5. Your hook is great.
Brown PLME - 1/5
Washington and Lee - Basically in for W&L if you show interest. Not familiar with scholarship, sorry.
Davidson - Atleast 7/10. Not familiar with scholarship, sorry.
Duke - 1/2
Yale - 1/4 - 1/5. Depends on if you are considered legacy.
Vanderbilt - 3/5
Cornell - 2/5

i don’t know too much about IB/the scholarships you’re trying to go after, so i can’t really comment on those. overall though, you have impressive stats and i’d think you have decent shots at basically all those schools.

I’m going to re-ask these questions in hope that someone with knowledge like hmom will be able to answer them:

If I am a legacy and apply Early Action to Yale, will that increase my chances?
Does my legacy “count less” because it was my grandfather and not my parents who went to Yale?

And, adding a new question:

Does the fact that my TASP seminar is hosted by cornell do anything for my chances there?

I definitely think that some people are underestimating you lol
If you can get into TASP I KNOW that you can write VERY good essays =D
Therefore:
30% Harvard (Legacy, Grandfather was a prof here)
30% Brown PLME (I would hate to not at least try)
80% Washington and Lee (trying for Johnson scholarship)
75% Davidson (trying for Belk scholarship)
75% Duke (trying for Robertson scholarship)
25% (probably your hardest if you can’t get legacy status) Yale (grandfather attended, but I don’t think that means I am a legacy)
80% Vanderbilt (trying for Commodore scholarship)
In, I can’t see you not getting in here Cornell (It’s so pretty, but expensive!)

Harvard 50%! A friend of mine goes there, and I think he didn’t have as good stats as you have now
Brown PLME 50% Yes, I think so One of my senior friends this year got it and her resume is nowhere as complete as yoursss.
Washington and Lee. Sorry, I don’t know much about this school xD
Davidson Again, don’t know :X
Duke (trying for Robertson scholarship) In is 75% but not sure about scholarship.
Yale 45%
Vanderbilt 80% w/out scholarship
Cornell 60%

I’m not great with the whole percentages thing, but you have legacy status at the perfect schools (for which to have legacy status, of course). I’m not sure if there’s a section for it on the Harvard app, but maybe casually sneak it in somewhere? I could be wrong though; they probably have a part for it on the supplement. I know for the Yale supp they have an entire like…half page dedicated to alumni relation (they’re really big on that) so ANYTHING will help. Does your grandpa donate to them or has he kept in contact?

After a certain point as you probably know, the top schools, especially the ivies, are crapshoots. You’ve reached that certain point for sure; you definitely stand out. Use alumni relation to your advantage, as you have it at 2 of the best schools in the country. Plus, your grandfather taught at Harvard!

I’d say you have a 50-60% chance of getting into harvard. Those are two big hooks and hooked people with your stats normally get in and unhooked people with your stats normally do not.

wow i think you have a very impressive resume. The fact that your grandfather taught at Harvard gives you a very good shot of getting in. I think Duke, Brown you have a 20% at each and Cornell would probably at like 35%. Anyway good luck!

Harvard (Legacy, Grandfather was a prof here)- in
Brown PLME (I would hate to not at least try)-reject
Washington and Lee (trying for Johnson scholarship)-in
Davidson (trying for Belk scholarship)-in
Duke (trying for Robertson scholarship)-in
Yale (grandfather attended, but I don’t think that means I am a legacy)-reject
Vanderbilt (trying for Commodore scholarship)-in
Cornell (It’s so pretty, but expensive!)-in

I think you have a pretty good shot at Harvard,… but, with so many applications, it’s a crap shot. Your crap shot is a bit luckier than most people’s though. I wouldn’t get hung up over Harvard-- focus on finding the right school for you… not the best ranked or legacy school or any of that. Trust me, you could be miserable if you attend a school that you “think” you should go to if you don’t like it.

Washing and Lee-- great chance here.
Vanderbilt-- Quite likely.
Cornell-- pretty good chance
Yale-- a chance, but still a reach for anyone (so many applications!)
Davidson-- great chance
Brown-- possibily

Your stats and extracurriculars are great. Enjoy your high school experience… don’t worry about college apps. You’ve got plenty of options!(!!!)

Harvard honors their legacies so even though it is a read for every person on the planet I would say that for you it is a medium reach especially if you end up getting good scores, which I’m sure you will. I’m applying to davidson too!
Harvard- medium reach
Brown- dont know much about but I would say
mid-high reach depending on scores
Wash Lee sorry i dont know
Davidson- high match and location will help
Duke- high match again
Yale-low reach
Vanderbilt- match
Cornell-low reach
good luck!
if you get a chance can you chance me? thanks
