So I apparently have this severe focusing/tracking problem with my eyes that makes me read as fast as a second grader, which is not very fast haha. So I just started vision therapy last week, so these SAT scores are from before. I have been told by four doctors and reading specialists that they should go up exponentially (expecting at least 2100)
Math: 650
Writing: 590 (10/12 essay)
CR: 590

ACT (same problem with the reading issue, should go up)
I don't remember the breakdown but avg. was 26 cold

Everything seems fine and dandy excepting the SAT scores. Try to pump it to a 2200 and you will see things working out just fine.

~Equuleus

Do i need to be in the top ten of my class? I’m around number 14/250 and can’t seem to bring it up much farther… everyone in front of me has NOTHING but grades…

If I do end up getting around a 2200+, what would my chances be of getting into those schools? Am I crazy for applying to HYPSM or do you think I actually have a chance?

You should be in without much difficulty at the bottom half of your list if you get the SAT scores you’re projecting. For the other Ivies (ESPECIALLY Princeton and Harvard) you’re going to want a 2250 or better. Your ECs are stellar and your grades are very good; I don’t think being #14 will hurt you too bad.

Good luck! Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118399-chance-theatre-acting-inclined-junior-ill-chance-you-back.html</a></p>

You seem like the perfect applicant…aside from those standardized test scores :frowning: get those up, and you’re golden! chance me back please!!!

wow, thank you so much! i spend a lot of time on my ec’s…

want to know whats so weird? i did practice tests (didn’t cheat hahah :P) with timers and everything and scored 700+ in CR and W and 770 in M consistently… took the PSATs and got 200 points below all of those projected scores  could it be nerves too?

and i will definitely chance! :)

I ride too  so sorry about your horse though!

It could be nerves–try practicing in a more intense, high pressure setting. You definitely need that SAT up. Your EC’s look good though, as does your class rigor.

Chance me? :)

Brownford, what kind of riding do you do? I miss it SO much :frowning: i figured id get back into it later in life or once my brother gets all sorted out…

i’ll chance right now :)

P.S. How on earth did you land that medical mission opportunity!? I wanna do something like that! :)

You seem like you have really good EC’s, and like others have said your scores are bringing you down. If you have an eye problem go check out the college Board website and under “special conditions” or something like that they let students who have vision problems to have more time when taking the test. I think College Board would call your doctor and he or she would just have to prove to them that you need extra time. So just bring up your score to at least a 2200 and you will have a good chance at these schools. Also remember those top tier schools can sometimes be very random with whom they accept, so do not be upset if you don’t get in. Hope this helped!

Chance me back please!! I am the one with what are my chances of getting into Stanford and the Ivies?

liv4physicz-i babysit this lady’s grandkids and she got me involved! its an AMAZING organization, she told me two weeks before a leadership conference that I should get involved, I signed up, flew out to Denver last august and fell in love. I applied for a Medical Mission, they allow select few high schoolers on missions. You should totally do it!!! I don’t know if there are any spots open still, but the conference this august (1st-7th) is in Beijing CHINA!!! From what I remember it wasn’t expensive at all, and then you can go on a mission your senior year! I’m hoping to continue with opsmile through college, I love it so much hahah :)

platypus26- I will definitely check collegeboard.com for the special conditions thing, I feel like I’m cheating by getting more time but I guess I need it hahah

Yeah, I feel like all of these top schools are cr*pshoots… oh well maybe we’ll get lucky! I’ll chance back right now :)

Trips: omg can I!?!? I’ve been looking for something like this for a long long time!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh omgomgomg is there a website or any info you can give me!?

I am currently a junior in high school and my GPA is less than desirable. I have a 2.3 unweighted and a 2.8 weighted. I am taking several online classes on, hopefully, boost my GPA up to a 2.5 unweighted by the beginning of my senior year. I took one SAT and received a 1450/2400 and I am scheduled to take another next month. Is there any chance I will be accepted to University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, and/or University of Tampa? If not, what Florida schools would be more in my reach. Thank you!

You’re in, no doubt.

-Princeton - reach
-Dartmouth - reach/low reach
-UPenn - reach/low reach
-Harvard - reach
-Cornell - low reach
-Drew - unfamiliar
-Rutgers - match
-Lehigh - unfamiliar

Low SAT, but with 6 specialists, who knows? Above average EC’s. Guessing from your use of exclamation marks, you may be female (kidding) - engineering females have better shots.

Unfortunately before going to finals, I had to get rid of my horse so that my family could afford to send my 10 year old brother to a special school for dyslexic children.
There’s an essay topic for you.

Chance meh: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1120270-preemptive-chance.html</a></p>

Hi, I’m 15 years old and am currently a junior. I have a 3.5 gpa and took the ACT for practice/just to see how it’d go with no prep in December and got a 25 (( I am retaking it again and hope to get a 28-30 hopefully! I am Junior Class President, heavily involved in Student Council, Part of NHS-going to be an officer next year, actively involved in Key Club and voleenteer countless hours. I am also an active voleenteer in my church. I was selected for leadership in my states’s conference. I have taken challenging classes my whole high school career and took 2 AP Classes this year and am taken 4 next year. I also job shadow my dentist. I want to be a dentist or an oral surgeon and am applying for UIC this June early admission. Do you think I can get in with my current stats? I am praying so because it is the only school that tuition is reasonable and yet offers a strong medical field. I have also been on varsity tennis for 3 years and varsity track for 3 years. I hope to appear well rounded. Thank you for reading this and taking the time to answer, I appreciate it very much as I come from a middle-class family and do not have many options for college due to my low gpa and only a couple schools offer pre-dental in Illinois and their tuition is well out of my range. Thanks once again!

you’re most definitely in at Drew, Rutgers, and Lehigh
if you get your SATs up you definitely have a chance at ivies your ECs are unique props to them
