Your standardized test scores are very impressive and good enough for all the schools on your list. Your slew of ECs are also impressive. I am a little concerned about GPA and that could be the thorn sticking in your application. You are also only graduating with 4 APs, while that is solid, it will not stick out is an impressive course load. I do not think you have a shot at MIT, Columbia, Yale. If you get lucky, you might be able to get in Chicago, Cornell, or JHU although unlikely. The rest of the schools on your list you have a real shot at getting into, but the GPA will hurt your application (too many Bs, and even a C). I could be completely off, but I am trying to be honest. I wish you the best of luck!

Yeah, your EC’s and test scores are great…but i only counted 6 A’s out of the core classes (math, english, science, language, history), and the rest are B’s. And while honors classes are good, they don’t hold a candle to AP’s, of which you’ve only taken four. I don’t think that’s what MIT, Columbia, or Yale is looked for at all, and Cornell and JHU are unlikely, and while UChicago is more attainable, it’s still a long shot. The rest you’re fine for. I’m sorry, but I would assume you want honesty here, and this is my honest opinion. But this is just one guy’s opinion. You never know.

Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate the feedback. To comment about the AP classes, my school only allows for students to take a max of 4 AP’s, with about up to 3 students with an exception to take more than 4 AP classes. And I know about my GPA being a little shaky but I am hauling butt to bring it up at the end.

Seriously guys. I am stressing out. My parents are saying the best I can go with my stuff is like a community college and/or no college will accept me. Im seriously freaking out and I am really stressing. Please, people of College Confidential, help me and I’ll help you back.

Anyone? I am really freaking out and I feel like I’m a failure to my parents. They keep saying how I’m going to not be successful in the future…

Some of those B’s could hurt, that’s a big turn off for the top schools on your list. Really drive for all A’s in your classes. But I think your standardized test scores are amazing! That is a definite thing they will like on your app.

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/1344063-one-more-chance-thread-please.html</a></p>

Only one you’re getting into on that list is Urbana Champaign. Your grades are terrible but your test scores are great. You should apply to more schools that aren’t MIT or Ivy League.

Yeah, I agree with some of the other posters in that your grades do seem kind of low. Does your school deflate grades or something? Your test scores seem way to impressive for the number of Bs you have.

Also, your ECs seem scattered. What would you say your passion is? Whatever that is, I would make sure to flesh it out in your essays. Focus on a specific one that you are most interested in and make it real to the admissions committee.

chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1342548-junior-shooting-high-y-mostly-chance.html</a></p>

Thanks for the input guys. Yea I knkw my GPA isn’t great but I do study a lot and the SAT scores were to show that even though I don’t have the grades, I’m still competent enough to go to good schools. And the schools I listed are just goals I had.

Any more input would be appreciated.

Bump please

Perhaps I don’t know what I’m talking about, but after seeing those ECs and test scores, I’d imagine that many of your listed top schools could assume that grades in your school are a little bit odd as a rule, and maybe give you somewhat of a pass. It’s a though call really, though.

So overall, if I am to bring up my GPA, I should be fine?

Also, its nearing the end of Junior year, and I feel it’s a little late to try anything too crazy. Is it possible that if I were to bring my GPA up in senior year before applictions, I would be fine?

I will be honest!

MIT, Columbia, Yale, Chicago, JHU, Cornell, Cooper Union: Extremely doubtful
Carnegie Mellon: Possible
UIUC: Good chances

Do not know much about other colleges.

You might want to ED to some less selective colleges.

Also, check out some LACs. They want to have Asian Americans.

To be totally honest, your test scores are on par with their standards but your GPA isn’t. People who get accepted to those schools have good test scores AND a great GPA. I’d say you MIGHT get into one not including Urbana.

Haha. I love the CC community. Always honest and straightforward. Thanks for all the input.

So as long as I can bring up my GPA before application time comes, I woild probably be fine, right? That’s kind of the general feel I’m getting frkm the responses.
