I had a REALLY rough junior year with my gpa dropping from 3.7 to about 2.76 but I took about 12 summer classes and thankfully im done with them!! My UC Gpa is now a 4.1 below are my stats. im beginning to work on my personal statement too so hopefully i can explain the gpa drop in that

Then again, I’m not from California; it seems like the UC’s have a completely different system of admissions than what we in the Northeast are accustomed to. Heck, I don’t even know what a “UC GPA” is… I’m only basing this off of what your UW GPA is. Let me know if that’s something different. I envy you all.

Test scores, on the other hand, are superb. They help you out for all schools, especially Berkeley, which I know places a huge emphasis on test scores.

My advice? Write a slam-dunk essay about your hardships making you a stronger candidate overall, keep up the good work, and you’ll be just fine.

@Catria, do you have any advice for the personal statement? I don’t want to make any excuses at all for my GPA drop but I’m just having trouble with where I should begin. What do places like UCLA and UC Berkeley look for in essays?
