<p>Hi! I feel guilty for doing this, but I can't help myself...</p>

<p>I'm an Asian Indian female from California & in the IB program.
9-11 GPA: 3.6 uw/ 4.1 w
SATs: Writing-790, CR-660, Math- 680 (total- 2130)
SAT IIs: Physics- 540, Math 2- 650, US Hist- 590. I retook US Hist and took Literature in Nov, which I think I might get >700 on.</p>

<p>My sophomore & junior years I've taken
APWH (3)
AP English Lang (3 soph year, then 5 jr year)
Calc AB (5)
IB SL/AP Physics B (2 on AP, 4 on IB)
IB Theatre Arts SL (4)
Calc BC (2)
APUSH (3)
TOK IB
and this year I'm planning to test in AP Environmental Sci, IB Math HL, IB English HL, IB Theatre Arts HL, History of the Americas HL, IB Spanish SL, and maybe AP English Lit. The only AP/IBs offered at my school that I haven't taken are AP/IB Bio & AP/IB Chem, and I'm taking drama instead of IB art/music.</p>

<p>ECs:
Journalism- writer for 4 yrs, pg editor for 2
CSF- 3 yrs, Treasurer
NHS- 2 yrs, Secretary
Mock Trial- 4 yrs, Co-captain
Spanish Club- co-founder, treasurer
Drama Club- 2 yrs, VP
Red Cross Club- 2 yrs, member, w/ about 30 hours
Varsity Swimming- 4 yrs, MVP freshman year
teensReach volunteer- program at the public library, VP, w/ about 80 hours; 3 yrs
Vision New America- a program to increase Asian American involvement in the community. did a summer internship w/ the County Supervisor, registered voters, and helped organize a community resource fair; summer before senior year.</p>

<p>My lowish GPA, sadly, is due to my junior year.... 6 Bs 1st semester; 2 Bs, 3 Cs 2nd semester (taking 8 classes). I don't have any tragic excuse, I just kind of... got distracted by a boy, <em>sigh</em>. I'm kind of upper-middle class and my life has been pretty uneventful. I'm banking on a brilliantly written essay to wow admissions officers. I'm a strong writer and don't plan on going into anything math/science related. And I'm trying my best to get a 4.0 this semester.</p>

<p>the rest i'm applying to I'm pretty sure I'll get into, mostly UCs and small privates. Does anyone think I actually have a shot at Columbia?</p>

<p>No, I'm sorry to say that your odds are not very good at Columbia. But you should get in to all the others, although at UC Berkeley you are only slightly better than 50-50 (I estimate your chances at about 60% yes-40% no). </p>

UC Berkeley--Match to Slight Reach (closer to Match)
UCLA--Match
NYU--Match</p>

<p>yeah... NYU used to be my top choice but Columbia has a much better fin aid package so now I'm kind of leaning towards it. thanks!</p>
