So, I'm a newbie, yay:) I'm a Virginian Resident and let's just say I'm a subpar applicant. I had a really bad freshman year (3.22) but since then I've had a 4.0 and above.

I'm so uber-nervous about this. What are my chances for THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIAA?

As long as you don’t send your ACT score I’d honestly be surprised if you didn’t get in. Amazing job picking up your grades! That’s an incredible upward trend!

I’d give you very good odds. Your scores are solid, I think they’ll definitely appreciate how much you improved over the course of your HS career. It’s also obvious you’re a committed communittee volunteer and that you take your faith seriously. I’d say 80% odds.

What would you chance me for UVA? (I’m still a junior so I don’t have all my info yet)

caucasian male, out-of-state.

Academics -
4.0 GPA unweighted, >4.0 weighted.
34 ACT
IB Full Diploma Candidate
Tied for first class-rank
Will probably qualify for National Merit Finalist (I’ve made the cutoffs for all of the last 5 years)
I took 1 AP test freshman year (got a 4), 2 AP tests last year (got 2 5’s), and I’m taking 5 AP tests this year

ECA’s -
Concertmaster of local youth orchestra
Swim Team - 3-4 practices a week
Teen Court - this is not mock court; more than an hour a week
I organized my school’s involvement in Race for the Cure
I play violin at a serious level and study with a university professor
Summer study abroad in France; no English allowed

You’re an OOS, so it’s already tough however you’re GPA is perfect and your ACT is on par. Colleges know the rigid rigor of IB courses, so it’s a plus that you’re an IB candidate. Your ranked first, which is great and your AP’s are nice. Your EV’s are great. You’re a shoe-in from where I’m looking. I wouldn’t sweat it. Thanks for your input btw!

Your GPA is a little low, but the upward trend is promising and your SATs, Ecs are spectacular. Plus your an URM. I say you are in even if you appplied OOS
