chance me! (and question about SATIIs)

SATs: 1420/1600
M:640 CR: 780
SATIIs:
Lit: 740 US History: 750
Most rigorous schedule, Taking all the APs offered at my school (which isn't much)

GPA: just about 4.0, top 5 or 6 percent, fairly competitive but small public school

ECs: student council president, (I was junior class president, etc.) editor-in-chief at the school paper, co-president of a diversity club, technical director for theater (lights, sound, might want to continue this in college) also, I'm in a slew of clubs: NHS, Spanish Honor Society, SADD, National Art Honor Society, jv tennis

Volunteer: 100+ hours at retirement home, youth tennis camps, habitat for humanity, special olympics,

Obama Campaign: I've been really involved since the PA primary. Let's see, Youth Coordinator for my area during primary, youngest team captain on primary day, countless hours going door-to-door, phone calls, anything.working on voter registration drives now. I'm in charge of the students for Barack Obama at my school.
Right now, I'm an Intern for the local campaign, and I spend every weekend going door-to-door.

Writing: Participated in National Novel Writing Month since I was 13 (nation-wide writing marathon), written four novels (not published, should I even mention them?), attended the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts for Creative Writing: Fiction

I'm interested in SFS for the culture and politics major, but I think I will end up applying to the College.

I'm planning on applying EA, but I've only taken 2 SATIIs. I've heard you can still apply as long as you send them your third. Do I have to take SATIIs in November, then? Can I wait at all, maybe for December? Early November is bad, just because of the election and work I'm doing for that.

Thanks in advance! I toured Georgetown recently and I don't want to get my hopes up at all, but I loved it.

as for cahnces, it's a toss-up that really could go either way. your SAT's, class rank, and GPA look fairly competetive, but none stand out all that much. is that GPA unweighted or weighted? given that there's a group of people in front of you, I'm guessing weighted. What's your UW GPA? Your EC's attached to the Obama camapign however, look really good. I'd highly reccomend writing your essay about them, because you won't have enough space to sell yourself through them on any other part of the application. I'd say overall you're competetive, but keep in mind that Georgetown still is a pretty tough school to get into, so no guarentees by any means.

As to SATII's, my advice -which may not be the geneal consensus - would be not to worry about them for the EA phase. During EA, they don't expect you to have three SATII's. I got in with two. You can go through the forum ad find several instances of people getting in EA with one or sometimes even none. for RD however, the SATII requirement seems a lot more strict. If yo feel you'll do best on an SATII in december of november, that's fine, although if you get in EA, you won't even need it

Why are you applying to the College if you're interested in SFS?

I was looking at the Arabic, English or Government major at the College. Would you reccomend I apply to SFS instead? I want to do more research on the politics and culture major.

You seem to interested in English and writing, so if that is your passion then I would say to go for it.

I guess just keep in mind that since SFS has a language proficiency, you can take Arabic and must pass the test, meaning that you will be certifiably good. Also you can take govt. classes.

SFS is realllllyy rigorous. Possibly more so than the other colleges.
But if you're really interested in govt etc you should apply where you want to, don't think about which school is harder to get into etc.
