Grades:
First term: 3 A-, 1 A+, 2 88s

Second term: 6 A-

Third term: 1 A, 1 A-, 2 88s, 85, 82

The third term was difficult for me because my father just came back into my life after 17 years so it was hard to concentrate. DO you think I should tell somebody this or just leave it alone? I dont want to whine.

Next year I'm taking really difficult classes and my goal which I'm determined to accomplish is to earn at least a 93 in every class the first term.

My top 3 are Upenn, Tufts, Brown.

Also my school is ranked among the top 30 private schools in America. Thank You all.

Your top three are definitely reaches, though I think you have a good chance because your are a URM. Your EC's are good, and if you get your SATs up there you will have a better chance.

I think your guidance counselor can include something about your father to explain your grades, or you can write about it in an essay, as long as you don't use a self-pitying tone.

are you applying to wharton for penn?

I think you have a pretty good chance, but you can never really know with schools like the ones that you're applying to. I think that you should try and boost your SAT score. Also, have you taken SAT II's? You should probably decide 2-3 good ones and focus on studying for those.

Get your SAT's up and those schools are definitely possible.

You should definitely talk about your father thing. If you don't write about it in relation to your grades, it will seem a lot less "whiny"; rather, discuss the issue in an essay, and something like that should really help your chances. Of the 3 schools you chose, pick one at least and try to apply early. That will help for sure.

no not wharton

try cornell, duke, unc, and/or gwu

They are a little easier to get in to with your stats, but not a guaranteed yes.
