vincentye4- I am applying to Milton too!

to sailerchick-
good luck and best wishes to you on march 10th!!!!!!!!!!!

to vincentye4- good luck to you too! What sports would you do at Milton?

swimming and/or cross country...u?

I go to Milton, and I did the Saturday Course, though I wouldn't say it would increase your chances of acceptance. Its obviously a good program to be a part of but its not like they weight it more just because it took place at Milton.

Good luck to both of you! I LOVE Milton, its a great school!

is milton acceptance rate, a little higher then other competitve schools? what do you think my chances are?

Yah it is a little bit higher, and the SSAT average is a bit lower (90%)

that is a little better, chances are a tiny bit higher!

Uhh,,,Milton is just as hard to get into as any other top school. So I wouldnt feel any better lol.

i know it is hard like other top schools, but 20% and 21% percent is still 1 percent chance higher even though it is such a small difference.

Vincent,

With you being chinese and all, you are competing against the MOST driven kids in the world. They were raised to go to A/E. They all get perfect scores, are prodegy pianists, and they all do volunteering. I agree with everyone else. What makes you stand out??? Was it your personality?

Don't get me wrong I think you still have an amazing chance (I'm not just saying this), but you should really get in contact with the school in the next few days to highlight on what YOU can offer the school. What will make them want to accept you

Just a thought though. A/E would be competetive, but Milton is not as hard to get into. They have no reason to reject you anywhere. Just know what you're up against.

To wrap this up i'll give you an example. One of my friends, is Chinese. TONS of competition. Only had A's and B's, average student. And had 80's SSAT. What made him stand out and get accepted to Exeter was the fact that he did what a lot of kids didn't do. He concentrated on just one thing. His computer programming skills and tennis skills. He is amazing at programming and is 4th in New England for tennis. Believe it or not he actually got a partial scholarship aswell. (Not sure if it was FA or merit scholarship)

to middlesex,

"but you should really get in contact with the school in the next few days to highlight on what YOU can offer the school. What will make them want to accept you"

what is your advice to what i can do right now? how should i contact the school? my parents and peers have all reminded me that asian are the most comptetive with makes me anxoius and very nervous the closer i am to march 10. i cant get it off my brain any second! i am sure taht im not the best azn candiate but, i think my ec are a little better than average. also the awards i won from swimming and piano, would this help a by a bit.
idk if this helps tho, plus the interviewer seemed to be interested when she asked about my hobby, and talked a lot about my hobby with cars, and i have been learning about cars since a very young age, and my interest to cars. would this help? im sorry if im reptetive or annoying...but do tell me how to highlight the school in the next few days =]

I honestly dont think that it is more competitivie for chinese kids. Everyone says that have such impressive work eothic but I think it depends on the kid, not the race. Vincentye4- I'm applying to Milton too.

yea but they mean out of all the asians that are applying to top boarding schools. Those are the ones that are usually the most driven and raised to go to these schools. Also a lot of then have been studying for the SSAT's for 1 or even 2 years. So yea, asians aren't always geniuses but the ones applying to top boarding schools are usually pretty close.

ugggh...i am so scared and anxious!!!!! i am never going to get in!!!

Vincent--- don't worry. Decisions are close now, and there is nothing else to be done, so you may as well relax. :)

I think you have excellent chances-- boarding schools don't look for robots kids, they want kids who have character and who are smart and will bring something to the school. From your posts, you seem like just that.

So try to relax... I know, impossible... but you'll know soon enough. Personally, I think you'll get in, but even if you don't, it's not the end of the world. Apply next year! So much of admissions is just chance and if they have already filled a certain spot. And btw, I'm not saying this to you specifically because I think you won't get in. Just in general.

Anyway, good luck!

thanks! wish you all luck too!

i wanted to say thanks all for chancing me! i got accepted to exeter and milton, but waitlisted to andover!! with FA.

Wow! Congratulations, vincent! Exeter and Milton are both fantastic schools!
