First generation college student.

Thanks a lot for your help!! :D

Whoa, did you take APs on your own? Just curious:)

My school encouraged its students to take the APs. I took the AP Calculus and AP Statistics modules in school, and prepared for the AP Biology and Chemistry on my own (like the other Bio and Chem honors students) :)

Do you need financial aid?

yup, but cornell’s need-blind for international applicants.

I quote from another poster, Cornell is need-blind for admissions. But not all international accepted students who asked for financial aid will get it.

The other need-blind, full-need schools are HYPM, Amherst, Dartmouth.

“Cornell University provides financial aid on a limited basis to students who are not citizens of the United States.”

I’ve come across that bit of info before, but thanks anyway! I’ll be applying for a local government scholarship if I don’t receive financial aid at Cornell. Btw, what do you think of my chances of getting in?

I think you’re very competitive, but you have to keep in mind that the international applicant pool is usually very strong. I still think you have a good chance, though. The fact that you’ve started a blog and done so much research is great.
I love your major btw, I’m applying as a Nutritional Sciences major (: chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1213369-im-little-obsessed-chance-me.html

Wow, you have a greatt shot. Which school are you in (if you don’t mind sharing)? I wasn’t aware that any local schools encouraged students to take APs! How do you even take APs here… Haha.

All the best!

Most ppl who go to Cornell are Americans, so you should apply to other universities as well. Ya you have a good shot, and Cornell isn’t that bad on financial aid… [NYU is a bad one]

thanks peeps!

@dinosoar: my school specializes in math and science…i think you can guess where i’m from (:
