Planning on applying to:

Columbia
Penn
Georgetown
Middlebury
Pitzer
Pomona
UT Austin
Ohio State
BU
UVA

FIRST POSTING ON CC, ANY RECOMMENDATIONS AND RESPONSES APPRECIATED

Columbia - Reach
UT AUSTIN - Low Reach
BU - safe

Your profile seems competitive. ECs and GPA are good, but yeah, SAT 1 scores are average, if you do manage to get a higher ACT or SAT score in your second sitting, I think you do have a great chance at all of these colleges. Best of luck.

bump

Good shot at all those schools except Columbia and Penn. In my opinion, gotta have higher SAT for those schools.

chance back?

Columbia-reach
Penn-reach
Georgetown-high match
Middlebury-idk
Pitzer-idk
Pomona-match
UT Austin-match
Ohio State-safety
BU-safety
UVA-match
Columbia ,penn and Georgetown will be more comfortable if you improve those sat scores and I really don’t know much about pitzer and Pomona

Thank you!

Columbia-reach
Penn-reach
Georgetown-high match/low reach
Middlebury-?
Pitzer-?
Pomona-match
UT Austin-match
Ohio State-safety school
BU-match
UVA-low reach (OOS)

FYI, Pomona has announced that this year’s acceptance rate will be below 10%. Hard to call a school with a single digit acceptance rate a match. Work on getting those SAT’s up; you may find you do better on the ACT. Pitzer is test optional. Best wishes.

Unless you appreciably improve your standardized test results, all of these undergraduate schools (except OSU and possibly UT and BU) are reaches.

Columbia: Reach
Penn: Reach
Don’t worry, I think Ivy Leagues are reaches for anyone, really!

UT Austin: Match
Ohio State: Match
I believe you could definitely get into both of these schools.

You’re doing great. Keep it up! Make sure you tell us if your SATs improve!

Psh results from second sitting of SAT
CR: 620
M: 740
W: 710 (9)
Honestly thought I hit this one out of the park so muy frustrating. Also will be taking ACT so those results should be fun (not).

Also might as well refresh the list of schools

OSU
COLUMBIA
PENN
MIDDLEBURY
GEORGETOWN
UVA
BU
NORTHEASTERN

I see you took out UT- Austin. Good move. It is extremely competitive for out of state students. Even for Hispanic students as Texas has plenty of Latinos. Please consider your financial situation in developing your list. A school has to also economically be feasible for your family.

  1. Ohio State, BU, and Northeastern: matches
  2. The remainder: Reaches (perhaps far reaches)

OSU: Match
COLUMBIA: High Reach
PENN: High Reach
GEORGETOWN: Mid to Low Reach
UVA: Low Reach, High Match
That SAT has to come up a lot. Specifically the critical reading; most of these schools will have a tough time justifying a 580. Bring it up to a 680 and you’re in way better shape

Also could you chance me my man? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1776265-chance-me-vandy-nd-nmsqt-some-others.html#latest

Columbia and penn are stretches but all the rest seem fine.

@collegeman44 actually this is an old thread haha can you do the other one?
