<p>I understand that SLO is known for its architecture program…and I’m kind of worried that I might not get in. I had the naive idea of “Oh, it’s just a CSU, how hard can it be” mentality until recently, and now I’m about to have a panic attack. I want to go to a school with a good architecture program. Well before I go into my questions about the Architecture major, here’s my info</p>

<p>SAT: 2030, taking again this november. Most likely will be higher.
SAT Bio: 700
Taking Math 2c and US history in December, will be sent in as well
UC GPA of 3.82</p>

<p>AP Bio: 5
AP USH: 4
AP Physics: 3</p>

<p>Before I start stating my courses I should mention that our humanities magnet (cleveland high school) has it’s own interesting english and social science courses, and it is BEARY rewarding.</p>

Boy Scout from 6th to 12th grade, never tried for eagle (stopped at Life rank) but I came to every meeting. Not that it matters without eagle
Junior Statesmen of America 11th and 12th grade
fresh/soph/junior council
Swim Team until first semester of 11th grade</p>

<p>I’m an underprivileged Korean-American, with minimal help on SAT or any tutoring program of any kind (due to financial issues).
I have no experience in Architecture, I just love art and creating art but I also love mathematics and understanding it and playing with it. I did not know what I wanted to do with my life until a few months ago, where I discovered that architecture would be the perfect combination. I regret thinking about this so late, and I’m going to switch in to Drafting next semester, but what good is one semester of Drafting when I’m going to be applying to the school that is ranked 4th in the nation for their Arch program :/</p>

<p>Also: What about if I get into the school undeclared? Could I switch majors? I’m curious</p>

<p>Hi there. Unfortunately, Cal Poly does not really look at your extracurricular or essays or SAT II’s. Just basic volunteering/job/etc questions. Other than that, admission is your GPA, choice of major, and ACT/SAT.</p>

<p>Your SAT score is just about average, but your GPA is under the average. I would try applying Early Decision.</p>

<p>But really, SLO is a really nice school, the KASA(Korean American Student Association) here is really supportive and welcoming. I’m korean too, let me know if you have any questions!</p>

<p>Thanks for the response! And I have more questions concerning what you said…could you give a little bit more detail about the admissions process? And I’d like to choose Architecture as my major…how much lower have my chances dropped?</p>

<p>Honestly, quite a bit. Architecture is one of the most competitive majors here. I would def apply for early decision.</p>

<p>Alright. So I applied early decision to SLO. Can I withdraw my application before they accept me? Because something’s come up that might allow me to go to Berkeley, I want to apply regular decision now</p>
