my school is Arcadia High School, I think is pretty competitive

It will be a reach. Lower ranking UC probably is your best bet. Or you can opt to communicty college and TAG to one of the UCs. Or Penn State, U Rochester, Georgia Tech are some you may consider

I’m at BC, and one of my roommates is a math major. Honestly, I think you have a great CV and should definitely make all attempts to head here if you can… it is a great school and has a GREAT math department. Your only a few obvious weak areas seem to be:

1.) 500 in reading on the SAT. Can I assume English is your second language, given the biographical info you shared? BC has a fairly solid core curriculum that requires lots of writing and reading (History, English, Theology, Philosophy, Social Sciences), but it’s not unique in that way – many of the other schools you may be looking at have similar requirements.

2.) Dropping the AP comp because you got a B. Many admissions will look at that (if it shows as a “Drop” on your transcript) as something to ask you about. Staying through the hard courses or ones that you cannot easily get A+ in is something important to try and do, in balance with gettting highest grades possible. BC does not do interviews, but you can be sure to get asked about this if you do interview at any colleges.

Also, if many people edited your essay and it sounds like it was not written by a high school senior who immigrated here 3 years ago and got a 500 on the SAT, you should be careful that it isn’t so obvious that the readers in admissions can tell it is not all your work. It’s a fine line between editing for clarity or grammar and spelling, vs. rewriting the whole thing for you so that it isn’t even an indication of how you yourself speak and write and think. Just a warning. I know a friend from high school who had his older sister write his Common App essay and it was awesome, and clearly not written by him. It came back to haunt him in one of his interviews (at one of his top choices).

Anyway… I would say go for BC and all the best for your success!
