I am a OOS senior with a gpa of 2.8 (UW) and an ACT score of 30. Do I have a shot at ASU’s Computer Science or computer engineering program? And/or should I retake the ACT to see if I do better?
I don’t believe that ASU restricts the number of computer science or engineering majors and you are guaranteed admission to ASU with a 30 ACT as long as you meet the admission requirements as far as high school classes taken (https://students.asu.edu/freshman/requirements). You also meet the minimum for Fulton Engineering which is slightly higher than the general admission. Getting a higher score on the ACT will therefore have no effect on your admission.
However, it could affect how much scholarship money you are eligible for. ASU has a scholarship estimator where you can play around with test scores/GPA/class rank to get an idea of the scholarship you would qualify for. I’ve heard it is pretty accurate.
@CaliforniaDude1, while your GPA is not so high, your ACT is proportionally strong. You might also consider applying to Barrett Honors College as well as CS.
Thanks!
Do you think I could get into the Barrett Honors college and Computer Engineering
You should apply, such a great program, especially with CE. Try to contact a Barrett admission counselor and discuss.
I got in!
Outstanding! Congratulations. You will have more opportunities than you can today imagine. And now…you can enjoy your senior year!
@CaliforniaDude1 I assume you mean you got into ASU; I don’t think Barrett starts making decisions until November.
