Hi! I was just wondering if you could please comment on my chances of getting accepted into FSU, UF, USF, or UCF.

Junior in high school
Hispanic female
3.5 unweighted (not really sure what my weighted GPA is.)
Top 20% of my class.
AP Lang.
(My school is small and only offers 6 APs)
I have played varsity soccer for 2 years now.
I volunteer at the hospital. (Pac U)
I also do community service hours in my city's City hall. (Secretary for the deputy clerk.)
I take all honors, and I am also taking classes at my cc this summer and dual enrolling.
My schedule next year is:
AP calculus
AP Lit
Gov & Eco Honors
Physics
and AP BIO.
Plus the other classes at my cc and my online classes.
3 years of French.

SGA secretary.
French Honorary Society.
I also tutor other kids who are struggling with french.

I would like to become a surgeon, I have always loved watching surgeries on TV and I aced my anatomy class. I think that being a surgeon is a beautiful job because you are saving someones life and I think that's a gift that you have to work really hard to obtain.
I want to go to a school that will prepare me for Med school.
Oh and another quick question, do you think there's anything I can do to improve my chances of getting into one of these schools?

Keep as high a GPA as possible

Take the SAT/ACT and maximize your scores

Take as many APs, DEs and rigorous courses as possible

Apply early

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I was also wondering which school in Florida do you think it’s best to attend if you want to study medicine, and eventually wanna go on to Med school?

UF is, of course, tops, and turns out a ton of students that apply to med school.

USF is great for medicine as well. They have an accelerated medical program that’s pretty tough to get into, but a lot of people I know turned down UF for USF for medicine/nursing.

Hey! Well I got my SAT scores. They were really low "/ I was just giving the test a try, but I am planning on preparing really well for the ones coming up in October.
Oh and I raised my GPA from a 3.5 to a 3.6. I found out from my counselor that my weighted GPA was a 3.9.

Verbal-600
Math-510
Writing-530

I know they’re bad… but I really am going to study hard for the rest of the summer to get a much better score in all of the sections.

Oh and I am taking Spanish II on FLVS, and I am planning on starting Spanish III sometime in July. I am also taking Psychology and a Reading class at my community college this summer. Do you think this will raise my GPA up?

ummmmm i dont think community classes count toward gpa
idk about online classes tho
good ec’s and try to get into top 15 or 10 percent of yur class to look more competitive

i dont have alot of tips for getting in but i dont think youll need them, being a surgeon is a great essay topic and youve got great ECs and your grades arent too shabby either so you could definitely get into all of them. I can pretty much guarantee you admission to 3 of those 4 schools

CC classes count and are weighted like AP classes in the eyes of the SUS (state university system). Are you instate? Work on getting all of your SAT scores between 550-600.
