Chance me at acceptance and scholarships?

I am about 80% I will be attending Hendrix College. I am also applying for NYU and Columbia University, but Hendrix is more doable. I'll only go to the other two schools if I get accepted, and if I'm named as a Gates Millenium Scholar.

In my personal statement, I unify various themes in Forrest Gump and relate them with different aspects of my life growing up.

I talked to an admissions counselor, and she told me that there are two ways to get a full ride. One is through the Hay's Memorial Scholarship. One four are rewarded. The other way is to get the Arkansas Distinguished Governor's Scholarship. I qualify for this with a 33.

What does the Hay's scholarship consist of, and do I have a good chance of getting the Governor's scholarship?

Thanks!

My son competed for the Hay's last year. Didn't get it but was told he came close. I will PM you his stats.

I don't know much about those scholarships, but my friend just started at Hendrix and she got almost a full-ride with an ACT of 27 and I don't think her resume was quite as good as yours, so I'd say you're pretty much guaranteed to get a free-ride.

Ptranium, my daughter is in her sophomore year at Hendrix on a full ride thanks to the AR Gov. Distinguished Scholarship. She was a Natl. Merit Scholar and her ACT was 32. If I were you, I would pay close attention to the deadlines for the AR Gov. Distinguished Scholarship because it sounds as if you meet the requirements. As you probably know, Hendrix makes up the difference between the AGDS and the price of full tuition/room/board/fees. Good luck!

Ptranium, it sounds like you have a great chance at some scholarships at Hendrix. You will no doubt be invited to attend the Hays Scholarship weekend. My DD, who also had a 33 on her ACT, participated in 2006 ... she was not awarded the Hays, but got a substantial scholarship. Good luck to you!
