Chance me at Bard?

Hey, I’m very interested in Bard for anthropology, art history, and primarily photography.

From North Carolina
3.58 GPA UW/4.68 W
32 ACT
Good recommendations
Eagle Scout
4 year cross country runner & captain
Pretty good essay
Internationally published and winner of multiple national photography awards

My grades junior year were pretty bad. A, 3 B’s, and a C. Was struggling with the loss of a very close friend and I feel that it’s explained in my essay.

I was completely and totally in love with Oberlin and got denied ED, so I’m just looking for some perspective here. Thanks everyone.

You still have a shot at Reg Admit at Oberlin though…Our S accepted to both last year. The Obie scholarship weighed in heavy on our choice. He is v happy there.Spent sig time at both campuses and attracted to both very much…particularly the very dynamic Pres at Bard…Bronstein. Bard does have a very limited endowment though. I would seriously look into their ratings by Moody’s. Tenuous there…Both have reputable art programs> Bard’s is perharps amongst Top in nation for photog but competitive once you get in as a freshman.Although Oberlin has a nationally known Prof in photog Your creds are certainly noteworthy for both. Congrats on becoming an Eagle scout. Our S is pleased he is at O rather than B right now as he gets a “more genuine college academic” feel there. Student bodies are v similar but my impression is that Obie is more diverse and scholarly. I have been to both campuses multiple times and felt the B student vibe was an existential one…Not extroverted enough.

@parentgeorgia I actually got denied, not deferred.

I’d really like to be at Oberlin and plan on trying to transfer

Stats look good for Bard. Make sure you’re 100% committed to photography though, it’s a grueling process and even extremely talented students get cut from the program rather early on.
