I help out my elderly neighbor alot, just small things but it’s on an everyday basis. I’m hesitant to include this becuase they may look at it as fluff. Should I?

You can possibly include the helping your neighbor in your essay if that is the route that you choose to go. I had very similar stats to you, slightly higher gpa and SATs, but you have more volunteer work which is a big thing for BC. I played sports, and you do too, which is another key ingredient to a BC applicant. With all that said, I got into the honors program at BC, so I'd say at the very least your a lock to get in, and most likely will be offered a spot to the honors program as long as your essay and recs are up to par.

I'd say that you have a pretty good chance. And i agree that you could write about helping your neighbor in the essay, Volunteering and service is something that BC looks for. One question- is your high school a feeder school to BC? How many people who were in your position in previous years got in? That is what i would look for and ask your guidance counselor-how good is your school's reputation?

Dear yaya34 : Interesting resume and certainly in line with the profile for a school like Boston College. Could you share more about your academic program in High School? Does it include AP Programs? Are you taking courses towards the top end of your curriculum?

Perhaps the biggest issue you will face is that you are a "home town" applicant (being from Massachusetts) and your essay will need to show that you bring diversity to campus and add more to the campus fabric than other local students. In addition to the recommendations of others to discuss your neighborhood activities, you might want to research some clubs/functions at BC now that you believe are in line with your interests (social, athletic, artistic) and articulate how you would like to contribute to those activities.
