What do you think my chances are at Boston University? I’m applying for the College of Communications and the College of General Studies. I applied early decision. Feedback is appreciated, thanks!

Where else have you applied?

What are your grade trends? Your GPA really puts you on the edge–it’s lower than BU likes, and your course load is accelerated but not AP (does your school offer AP?). Based purely off what you have here, I’d lean towards no for COM and a maybe for CGS. I’m honestly surprised you didn’t go for CFA with your musical experience. If you’d said CFA, which relies heavily on an audition component, I would have thought you’d have a better chance.

I visited with my daughter this summer and the stats for ED are considerably lower than the stats for regular decision. At the information session this summer they told us the average ACT score for ED is about 26-30. I think your chances on ED are excellent. The average ACT score for regular decision is 31 so it is probably a good thing you applied ED. Good luck with it - when will you find out the decision?

My grade trends have always been positive from freshman year. The reason my GPA is low is because of freshman year, when I slacked. I heavily regret it but I’ve been working really hard sophmore, junior, and senior year. It’s been a huge journey and I feel that I’ve matured a lot! And yes, my school offers AP, it’s just that I wasn’t entirely sure that I’d be prepared. An A in an accelerated level class looks better than a C in an AP class. @proudterrier

I will be finding out on the 15th! @saules

Rutgers, I plan on applying NYU, University of Maryland, Syracuse, and maybe James Madison! @TurnerT

I GOT IN!!

Congrats! Always happy to be wrong  Go Terriers!

Congratulations - great school! My D will be applying regular decision. Her ED said no but it was a reach so not a surprise.

Tell her I wish her the best of luck! There’s always a chance! @saules

Thanks @MCheung12. Any idea what her chances would be RD at BU. She has 31 ACT score and 3.8 GPA. She has taken many honor/AP classes and has lots of EC and most likely excellent recommendations.

Well, Boston University’s ACT middle range is 29-3 and GPA range is a 3.55-3.7. I was incredibly under those ranges, but I still managed to get in with my extracurriculars and essay. The fact that she has a 31 ACT, 3.8 GPA, and rigorous high school curriculum gives her an incredibly good chance at BU. In addition to that, her many extra curriculars will only bring her far above the rest of the applicants. She will, I can bet a million dollars, have no problem getting into this school. Why don’t you have her take a look at NYU too? With her credentials, she could get into so many great schools. You should be extremely proud of her! @saules

@MCheung12 Were you admitted to COM or CGS?

CGS, but I will be pursuing COM starting my junior year @saules

Thanks @MCheung12. She is also looking at NUY. Likes both BU and NYU equally right now. We visited both colleges over the summer. I personally love Boston and think it’s one of the best college towns there is. I think she would be very happy at BU or even Northeastern which she applied EA to.

I wish her the best of luck. I’d love to meet her if she does come to BU. I have no doubt that she’d get into all those schools! @saules

@MCheung12 I have similar SAT and GPA, and similar Orchestra experiences and Volunteering hours (except no Carnegie hall). I almost thought I posted it before I saw soccer portion. Asian Female, but applied regular decision… Scared to death rn… Just curious, did you end up committing to BU?
