Class rank: I don't know, but I'm assuming at least in the top 10% (class size about 550)

Course load/tests:
Junior Year: IB Visual Arts, IB English I, IB Physics I, IB German 500, IB Calculus (mathematics SL), IB History of the Americas

I have taken German on and off since 8th grade (I didn't take it sophomore year when they didn't have the class available for 500) and i took spanish 200 and 300 in 9th and 10th grade.

ECs:
I've been on my city's youth government (run through the city) for 6 years, the longest amount possible. I was a general member for 4 years, and this last year I was the Summit Coordinator as well as Co-chair. This next year I am also going to be Summit Coordinator. I am also re-running for Co-chair. Through this org. i've done 400+ hours of community service such as standard food drives, clothing drives, senior breakfasts etc. as well as meeting with the City Manager and the school district's Superintendent. (I also got to meet our Senator) We do all sorts of other activities as well.

I have been playing soccer for 12 years, 6 years being on a select team. I'm team captain, and the team is very important to me.
I've played JV soccer the past two years, JV captain for both years. I'm planning on playing again in the fall.

I also do extraneous art things. I took a Ceramics class last summer. I do photography/painting/sculpting.

Pre-College Programs:
I'm doing a two week Early College Program for the School Of Art in Chicago for 3D instillation work.

Work:
I've worked for Arena Sports as a little kids soccer coach for the past year. Its ultimately a child development program for children ages 18 months to 9 years old.

I will have very good letters of Rec, and I have great interviewing skills. I'm not too worried about the essays either.

Also I need some advice: I'm worried about taking subject tests because I've heard they are bases largely off the AP curriculum, rather than IB. Should I just do the ACT with writing instead?

Thanks so much!

i’d say that you have as good a shot as anyone at brown. you don’t have any particularly unique ecs, but then neither do most applicants. you have a good chance and could do the work there, just remember that only about 8% of applicants get selected, which makes it hard for even the most qualified of applicants to gain admission. good luck!! i would also find some safety schools to apply to (NOT other less selective ivy league schools, more like ones that accept at least 30% of applicants), just to make sure. It’s all about building a balanced selection of schools to apply to, ranging from extremely selective to less so.
