Besides that, I had a respectable sophomore and freshman year. I will also visit the school this summer and am applying for a summer program there this year.

Thanks!

Your GPA is lower than average, so that might hold you back. The SAT is average for Carnegie Mellon (as expected) of Carnegie Mellon). From reading your resume, you seem to be highly involved in music and tennis, which contributes highly to your application.

Some things that might hold you back is a lack of subject tests. For a school like Carnegie Mellon, assuming you are doing something related to engineering or computer science, then try doing SAT II Math II and a SAT II related to science.

Another thing that might hold you back is that your application doesn’t seem to be highly engineered (pardon the pun) towards engineering or computer science (this is assuming you want to apply to one of those majors since the school you are applying to is heavily based upon those majors).

Try applying the knowledge you gained in those STEM courses and apply it to a research project if you are engineering based (a paper based on an idea that could contribute to the field). If you are computer science based, you have way more options. I saw that you developed an application for tracking diabetes. Keep building on that. Make sure to relate your diabetes in to your application. Try developing something else programming related to make yourself stand out further (build a website, application, game, or learn advanced computer science algorithms).

I am doing my subject tests (math 2, chem, french) in may/june. I am going to apply as a biology major and I have already developed a website for my non profit organization without any help over the course of a couple months. Do you think I have a good shot? In addition, I have hired an outside college counselor who has gotten numerous students into prestigious colleges so I am sure my essays will be outstanding as well.
