Chance Me at Colgate?

I really love everything about Colgate and it will most likely be my top choice that I apply early decision to. My cappex account says I have a 50/50 shot at getting in, but I want more opinions.

I go to one of the top public schools in Massachusetts which has a few kids going to Colgate already, and has very good relations with Boston College, so it has a name for itself among some schools.

Single SAT: 2120/2400
GPA: 4.58/5.3 (3.5/4, but this counts honors and AP the same…)
APUSH exam: 5
APES exam: 4
Awards: NHS, 3rd place in architecture fair, outstanding achievement in art, outstanding achievement in accounting
Top 15% of my class

there are no AP’s offered to underclassmen at my school, but I took all honors freshman and sophomore year besides CP Spanish.

I already have a stellar essay planned that everyone I explain to loves, and writing is a big skill of mine, so I’m sure that will be great. I am also getting really great recommendations from my math teacher, who I have an incredible relationship with, and my English teacher of 3 years.

Please let me know what you think my chances are! I love Colgate and I am seriously considering applying ED, but I want to know if I have a good shot first. Thank you (:

As a rising junior who plans to apply ED to Colgate, I think you have a really good chance (especially with the help of ED). Your SAT is above their average, which makes up for your GPA, and the fact that you have consistently taken advanced classes is a good sign. Your EC’s are pretty good too! The ED acceptance rate for Colgate is like 37%, so I think you can swing it! Good luck & I hope to see you there in a few years!

The RD acceptance rate this year was just below 29% and ED rate closer to 50%.

But what’s more important is that ED favors applicants who would likely be accepted RD and by applyimg ED show their commitment. Commitment underscores transparency and disclosure by both parties and the result for successful candidates - and Colgate Admissions - is a win-win.
