I'm from a public school in Texas and hope to apply ED to Davidson so I would like to know what my chances may be.
I have a 4.0 and I'm 22nd in my class out of 190 (not top ten percent but about top 12 percent). I have a 30 on the ACT. I have been an officer every year and I'm a member of UNICEF, Stuco, and a few more clubs. I'm involved at my church and I sing at Sunday services. On top of this I'm an active member in my school newspaper and pride myself on my ability to write-- so I think my essay is very good as well. I am also an EXTREMELY active equestrian and travel all over the country showing. I have been trying to stress on my application how I'm able to balance my frequent absences but still maintain a 4.0 because I think that shows I'm responsible and ambitious. Davidson seems like a great place for me but I know my ACT is on the lower side. So please let me know if I have a decent chance or not!

Davidson ED: Reach

Perhaps matches and safeties could be colleges with equestrian teams…

OP, it’s really hard to chance anyone for colleges really. Focus your energies on finding a good fit in all of the categories- reach, match, and safety colleges. Research the colleges statistics for their range of GPA and SAT/ACT scores. Find out what the college looks for in it’s applicants- do they value volunteering, would Texas be adding geographic diversity, etc… Go meet the college representative when they come to your town. ED is only a strategy that you use if you are sure that this is the place for you and you can attend financially. My S applied ED to his reach and it worked for him but not after an exhaustive search for the right fit. Good luck. Let us know where you land.

If you REALLY are 100% sure than you should have no regrets early applying. I would focus on your horse back riding!
