I am worried that my ECs would hold me back along with my somewhat low GPA.

By “Domestic International student (Qualify for FAFSA)”, do you mean US permanent resident (“green card”)? If so, then you should generally be considered a domestic student, which is generally more favorable than being considered an international student.

Is 3.94 your unweighted GPA?

Not sure what you mean by “doesn’t have any science or math based IB classes” since you are taking what is typically the highest IB math class (IB math HL A&A) as well as some sort of IB chemistry and physics.

Have you talked to your parents about how much they can contribute to your college costs?

Just a heads up, I wouldn’t list “chores at home” as an EC unless it’s something really significant and beyond the norm (taking care of sick family member, babysitting baby brother, etc.) Don’t worry if you can’t fill out all 10 sections on the activities section.

Also, do you have an SAT/ACT score?

You need a test for UF. UVA OOS will be hard.

Good luck.

Is BLS an award? Just asking because my kid has several first aid and safety certifications. Should be EMT certified next year.

If students have home/family responsibilities they should list those…things like babysitting/driving siblings, buying groceries/cooking dinner for the family, taking care of the chickens/chicken coop, household cleaning if parents are unable to, etc should absolutely be included. I wouldn’t include things like have to keep my bathroom clean.

Kentucky and Louisville are safeties, and if you would be happy at either of those you are fine.

UGA OOS has become more competitive over the last decade or so, but I like your chances, even TO (unless required).

Case loves those who love them. Be sure to show the love. That one could go either way.

Wash U will be tough – it is a reach. They are in an arms race with schools like Emory, Vandy and Rice to report high stats and be respected by stat-hunters. OTOH, if it’s under about 1460/33, you are probably best served to go TO there.

UVA OOS will be tough as well.

What are the common ties that bind these schools, and are they all affordable?

UGA requires test scores.

Yeah, that’s why I said “if it’s significant and beyond the norm.” As in something that not everyone does. If it’s just normal chores (doing the laundry, cleaning your bedroom) then listing it could be counterproductive (b/c is sounds like you’re reaching for ECs). Of course, something that is significant and takes a good bit of time should definitely be listed.

depends. List them and you’ll get advice.
