Chance me at Northeastern EA?

Hi i believe Northeastern is a reach for me but I just wanted to see if i could get another opinion regarding my actual chances of getting in early action.

I am currently a junior in a public high school.
SAT: 1290
GPA: weighted is 4.11, unweighted is 3.7
Rank: top 20% in 300 person class
APs: US history, World History, Language and Composition (Senior year i will take APs in Literature, Psychology, and Human Geo)
Recc letters will be very strong, I know the teachers very well.
Extra curriculars:
Best Buddies / communications director
Key Club / President
Debate team
Students against drunk driving (LEARN)
Freshmen mentor
Spreading sunshine (community service)
National Honors Society

I also have a part time job at a movie theater.

Both of my parents went to Northeastern. Not sure if legacy is accounted for, but thought it was worth a mention.

Google Common Data Set Northeastern U and look at section C.

Just keep studying and try to improve on your SAT/ACT scores. Consider the NU IN program too. Good luck!

You have a pretty good shot. I know people who got in with a Deans scholarship with a 3.7 and a 1500+ SAT score. Just get your SAT up.

I have a 4.57 Weighted (Includes mandatory wellness CP class, all honors), 1500 SAT, 35 ACT, play Varsity Soccer and Varsity Baseball, Model UN, Social Climate Committee, and volunteer at Little League and a baseball league for kids with disabilities. I have some health issues and many doctors appointments/ therapy. Can I get into Northeastern?

Will take AP’s as a junior (APUSH, CS, Physics 1)

@RyM100 Great stats… keep up the grades and definitely show interest as many kids with high stats get rejected or deferred for yield protection…

@Melissah415 . I’d work on getting your SAT score up as well… NUIn could be a good option or applying EA would help too.

NU does take into account legacy status. My son got accepted to NU in for next year. He had received an email shortly after submitting his EA application stating that they had confirmed his status as a legacy candidate. I do agree that you may need to improve your SAT scores to increase your odds. Good luck!

While legacy is considered, you can find many rejected legacy kids on the current RD thread. It doesn’t appear to be a significant factor generally.
