Applying ED2 to NYU CAS with indicated interest in Liberal Studies Program
GPA: 3.4 (UW) 4.0 (W)
Rank: 96/302 (yikes)
ACT: 31 (E-35 M-24 R-36 S-28)
EC: Speech & Debate President, 2-time state qualifier in Public Forum Debate and numerous other awards, Model UN President, National Honors Society, Leadership Challenge, French Club Chair, volunteer at nursing home, paid job
Common App Essay: 10/10
NYU Essay: 9/10
Course Rigor: extremely difficult for my school- 9 AP’s (Lit, Lang, French, Bio, Environmental, World, U.S. History, Gov, Art History) and one IB (TOK)
I know my GPA is pretty low, but I consistently receive A’s in History and English, but receive low B’s and C’s in Math and Science (if you couldn’t tell by my ACT breakdown.) I intend to double major in Politics and International Relations, and I hope that the admissions officers will excuse some bad math grades as I don’t intend on doing anything involving STEM courses. My writing samples are the strongest part of my application, and both my Common App essay and NYU essay expand on why I value cosmopolitan environments. NYU is my dream school. Do I have a decent shot?
