Excellent recommendations and pretty good essays

I also have a unique story, where I was hospitalized the second semester of my freshman year in college, and I came back to school and got better grades and worked harder in extracurricular activites and so forth. So what are my chances?

Isn’t your current school already a great school?

UIC? I mean its a decent school… great? definitely not

I think the person is confusing U of I Chicago with the main campus, UIllinois at Urbana-Champaign, which is considered one of the better public schools in the nation, ranking near Wisconsin and Maryland.

As far as your grades go, I think you have a decent shot for NYU Gallatin.

Gallatin admission is a lot on your essays and what you plan to study. If you have a strong argument for needing to be there and a great essay, you have a strong shot there. If you really want Economics though and just want to go for Gallatin because you think it’d be easier to get in than CAS Economics, you’ll have much less of a shot. Purely for CAS-Econ, your GPA is a little low, but you have a good hook story and extracurriculars, so I’d say you definitely have a good chance.
