Oh I forgot to include this, but applied to WashU.
I think you have a good chance to everywhere except USC, Northwestern and Duke. Those school are extreme about EC’s and you need to have really strong EC’s if you want to apply there so I would give you a mid reach for those schools. You aren’t a very well rounded student and people who are accepted usually are well rounded and have many ec’s so just keep that in mind
You’ve got a lot of good stuff. Please do circle back and let us all know where you get accepted.
@softiestudies, ALL top schools want good EC’s, so I don’t get why you would single out those 3 schools. Your statement just isn’t true.
@CottonTales I know for a fact that USC and the others that I listed are HUGE on Ec’s like they really want you to stand out. Yes all colleges want strong EC’s but those colleges really put emphasis on EC’s. You can even look at the USC decision thread all those kids had STELLAR EC’s so I put that there for a reason. UC really only relies on stats and many people on CC know that, they don’t care so much for EC’s they would prefer if you had good sat and gpa so please don’t target me for putting down what I know
Um…there were several other schools on the OP’s list that weigh EC’s just as heavily, if not more so. Amherst, Williams, Pomona and JHU ALL are all very holistic schools. I assume you are in HS? You may not want to give out “chance” information until you have some real information.
@softiestudies colleges want a well-rounded class, not well-rounded students; I also, like @CottonTales have no idea as to why USC would want more ECs than, say, Amherst or Pomona. Odd logic.
@CottonTales none of us know what college admission officers want, I’m going to assume that you aren’t a college admissions officer so don’t assume you know something either. The whole point of this site is to put what we know on this site not just say something and it’s going to happen. only a small percentage of us are actually right on here so don’t assume that because you know a little that you know the application process
@softiestudies, while I am not an admissions officer, my kid worked in admissions at one of the schools in your thread title, so I do have a bit of insight beyond speculation.
Admitted to UC Davis.
Admitted to UCSD.
Rejected from WashU (WUSTL)
when did u submit your work for regeneron and siemens? Did you submit as a junior and found out your qualification before senior year? I am a junior now, and will send in my research to both of these. I just wanted to know if I will get my results in time for applications?
Thanks
Siemens can be done as a junior as a team AND as a senior solo, Regeneron can only be done during senior year independetly, Siemens results came out before app was due, updated schools with my regeneron award afterwards.
Update: rejected wustl, jhu, Pomona
