--As far as Math and Science go, since I am applying to Engineering--:
I am one of 10 out of nearly 700 people in my class to take calculus as a sophomore, and have earned A's and 5's in calculus as well.
Have taken pretty much every science class school has to offer.
Pretty good at chem...A's in chem across the board, 4 on the AP Test, and a 720 on SAT 2

First Generation College Student...what are my chances? I am applying as a Bioengineering Major (backup being Computer Engineering)

…and fyi, i’m from San Diego, CA…NOT Columbus, OH

In. 10char (Target)

you are in sir. do not fret.

haha thanks ppl. anyone else wnna comment?

In, of course. :)

It seems like everybody who asked to be chanced for UCSD makes my classes and test scores look stupid.

Lol i’m with kings…

haha wow thanks guys! but sheesh, you guys make me feel like UCSD shouldn’t be a problem for me at all.
I am aiming for that school, but do you guys think I should aim higher, like LA or Berkeley perhaps?

ya shoot for UCLA or Berkeley

you are probably “in” anywhere you want to go but UCSD is a great school, so even if you “aim higher”, I’m just putting in a good word for SD… for the most part, I’m loving it here

Well you should “aim” for whatever schools you think you might want to go to. Personally, if I got into Berkeley (I didn’t apply), I still wouldn’t be going there anyway. Don’t think of UCSD as lesser than Berkeley or UCLA just because it’s easier to get into. Pick the university that has strong programs in what you want to major in and that it’s a place you’ll want to live for 4 years, because it’ll be your new home.

oh no, dont get me wrong here. UCSD is a GREAT school. I’ve pretty much grown up to all its cool stories and everything. That’s part of the reason why I even applied there!!
