You should be looking at schools like Texas State, UNT, Sam Houston, UTSA and SFA. I know kids with similar stats as yours and these are the schools they are attending.

Do you think that I can make it to A&M, Texas Tech or UH ?

You will need to get your ACT/SAT scores way up to get into those schools.

Then i dont think i’ll make it to A&M, but i’'ll test again befoe the deadline of the other 2

You seem to be searching for information that is easy to find with some research. The first thing you need to do is look at the admission requirements for the schools you are interesting in. A computer science major will likely have additional requirements since it is a highly sought after major. You can forget Tech or UofH with your ACT score. Even schools like Texas State or UNT are going to be a reach for a computer science major. You need to take your stats of top 50% class rank and 18 ACT score and see what schools you qualify for. Your expectations need to be realistic and you need to understand that you will likely get admitted without a major and have to make the grades to get into a computer science program. I don’t mean to sound harsh but it is what it is.

I know that, im testing again because those scores where the first ones that i got and i was unable to retest. And I know that I can do better because I didn’t study at all for the tests. And I couldn’t test this semester because of the football games, most of them were on saturdays. But I know that if I study i can get better scores and make it to those universities.

I don’t think your being realistic. To get regular admission into UofH would need to score a 25 on the ACT. 28 for Tech and a 30 for A&M. Going from a 18 to a 25 is a huuuuuge leap. You can prep for the ACT but you can’t really study for it. Also understand that getting into a computer science program is going to require a even higher ACT score. I’m not trying to discourage you but your expectations are not realistic. I suggest you retake your test and then make a list of schools based on your new score. Best of luck to you.

But those scores are for immediate admission right?

I was also thinking going to my local university TAMIU for 1-2 years and then transfer to A&M.

Those scores are for guaranteed admissions (A&M not included). You need to be in the ball park to be considered by those schools. Computer science is a highly sought degree so the criteria is going to be higher. The schools you have listed are reach schools. You need to have some schools on your list that you are likely to be accepted. Take your current stats and match them up to schools you are a good match for. Then retake the ACT/SAT and readjust your list based on your new scores (assuming they change greatly).

Ok, huge thanks!

TAMIU sounds like a great place to start, based on your location and your stats. If you want to apply to transfer to College Station, make sure you are familiar with and complete the required coursework for transfer to the program of your choice. You will also make sure that you take the equivalent courses to A&M computer science (or other intended major) if TAMIU does not offer them. Transferring is not mere just switching schools, but you must apply to do so and be accepted into the specific program for which you apply.
