what are my chances of being admitted?

ACT is a little below average. I would call it a low reach. Texas A&M would be closer to a full match. You’ll need to apply to a number of different schools just in case.

Don’t be discouraged by having a 28 on the ACT. I’ve seen plenty of people get into UT for STEM majors with ACT scores around your range. The fact that you did a lot of extracurricular activities is great and will help on your application, since UT looks highly on your personal achievement index. In terms of improvement, I would still say to improve your ACT/SAT score to the 30+ or 1400+ range. I would also say to take more AP/IB/Dual Credit courses because UT really cares about how you’re challenging yourself.

Nothing really stands out other than “Hispanic female”–which may or may not be a significant admissions factor for UT-Austin.

No SAT II & just one moderate AP exam.

In my opinion, you need to bring something more–are you willing to retake the ACT or take the SAT ?

Keep trying on the standardized exam. Your rank is impressive, but it depends on your school and district as well. For example, I went to a high school that if I made a 4.0, I wouldn’t be close to being in the top 35% of the students. That same 4.0 could also make me valedictorian at a different school, but it is up for grabs truly. Extracurriculars are great but in my expereince, school is school and ECs will only take you so far.

Good luck to you!
