Chance me at these schools.

Hey guys. I posted on this forum a couple weeks ago to get some help at deciding which colleges I should be looking at getting in to. I've (more or less) narrowed it down to these 5, please feel free to suggest other options if you'd like.

1) University of Nebraska-Omaha
2) University of Richmond
3) Northeastern University
4) Macalester College
5) Colorado College

Before I post my stats, keep in mind I have a somewhat unique situation. I was homeschooled (accredited) from the second semester of 9th grade until the first semester of 11th grade. I go to a rural high school that offers no AP, IB, or Honors courses. However, we do have dual enrollment courses, which I am enrolled in 3 currently (The only ones available to me). Also, I was mistaken about my GPA/Class Rank in my previous post.

GPA: 3.81 UW (Rank: Top 20-25%?)

ACT: 30 (27, 29, 27, 35)
- Taking again in December, expecting a 1-2 point jump.

ACT Superscore: 31 (27, 29, 32, 35)
- Expecting a 1 point jump, maybe 2.

Intended Major: Computer Science

ECs:

Quiz Bowl Team

Team Captain.

Conference Champions.

District Runners up.

Placed 7th in State Tourney.

Recruited multiple members of our team and got our team into extra competitions that we haven't participated in previously.

Future Business Leaders of America

Chapter Officer (Treasurer)

Community service including holding a Halloween event for local children, organizing school dances, fundraising, etc.

Involved with officer training to help build leadership skills and brainstorm new ideas for our chapter.

Varsity Basketball

*Speech/Forensics
- Extemporaneous Speaker
- Letterman

Awards/Honors/etc:

2014 Cornhusker Boys' State Graduate

2014-2015 NSAA Believers and Achievers Award (Local Winner/State Nominee)

Class of 2014 Graduation Attendant/Usher (Chosen by the graduating class)

2014 UNL Math Day (Math Bowl)

One of our four person team that placed 4th in the state for our respective class.

(Bad) Minimal community service. ~50 hours.

I do quite a bit of programming. I once made a modification for a game that was played by ~500-1000 people in total. I taught myself C# and parts of SQL (Or at least the ways to integrate MySQL into what I was trying to do), along with the native language for the game I was modding. I have hundreds of hours of programming experience, which I think sets me apart from other applicants, if I could get a chance to show off my work.

Bump, anyone?

University of Nebraska-Omaha and the University of Richmond are both clear safeties. The rest are matches (I’m going to guess you’ll at least get into 2/3 though) Best of luck!

Wow, really? I mean, I know UNO is a safety but I didn’t expect that answer.

Also, I think being from Nebraska might be a good hook for me. I’m also first generation. Does being from a rural area like that help increase admissions chances? I’ve been debating a few schools that I personally consider reaches, could I get chances for these?

Boston College

Colgate

Vassar

Bump, if anyone has opinions, I’d appreciate them!

Anybody?

U of richmond isn’t a safety, it’s a match. What’s your unweighted GPA?

CC is a high match.

 • Boston College-match
 • Vassar-low reach

@paul2752 3.81 is my UW GPA, my school doesn’t have a weighted GPA because there are no weighted classes.

No AP?

@paul2752 Nope, the only thing my school offers is a few dual enrollment classes, and they are not weighted (even though they are college level). I’m in every dual enrolled class that I am eligible for. There are less than 100 people in my high school, to give you some perspective.

Any other opinions?
