Chance me at UCLA Cal and UCSD please

Title says it.
SAT: 2270 (720 CR 800M 750W)
Gpa: unweighted 3.76 weighted UC: 3.90
Subject tests: 780 math II 800 Physics
Baseball 4 years
Pretty solid essays

UC gpa drops you a lot. but test scores and essays may raise up.

By Cal, do you mean Cal poly?

Good for cal poly, mostlikely sd, idk about ucla. They love good grades over test scores.

SAT I & II are both good, but UC GPA is on the lower end of applicants, unfortunately. Do you have any EC aside from baseball?

UCSD - high match
UCLA - low reach
UC Berkeley - reach

GPA is too low for UCB and UCLA, but your scores are great:

UCLA/UCB - low reach
UCSD - high match

I was referring to UC Berkeley although I am applying to cal poly as well.

IB scholar, I do a bit of music on my own (self taught piano and guitar) but nothing major. By the way what do you mean exactly when you say low/high reach/match? Like percentage wise if you had to estimate. I’ve been thinking about 5% for UCLA and Berkeley and maybe 20 for SD. Do you think this is accurate?

It’s just terminology on CC. Match means you have a decent chance of getting in, while Reach implies you’re stats are lower than expected, so chance diminishes. Low and High refer to the spectrum Match/Reach occupy; a Low Match means you’re very likely, High Match Somewhat Likely, and so on.

Your percentages seem somewhat accurate, though it’s honestly hard to say roughly given the variability some of the subjective portions of your application (Personal Statements and Letters of Rec, if you were selected to give them).

^ I put it significantly higher. Your stats are not bad at all! The only problem is that you are targeting the best UCs:
At about 20% for UCB/UCLA and 30-40% for UCSD.

I meant more that some people might define match and reach differently. Thank you both

I’d say you have a decent chance at UCSD. Like others have said before, your GPA isn’t quite up to par with Cal and UCLA (which is a bit trivial to say because I’ve seen kids with 4.5s get rejected from both schools), but UCSD is definitely in range

If you are instate, I’d say your chances are good because of your SAT II’s
Are you a recruited athlete? LA loves athletes.
Berkeley is a reach unless you are local area.
UCSD is probably a match.
Good luck!

Does local area really affect it? I’m only 50 miles or so from Berkeley.

chance again.

again, great test scores. i have similar ones.
Sd>LA>B in terms of chances you’ll get in. but write in your personal statement WHY you got lower grades.

idk about percentages, but hard for la and b.

maybe for sd.

I think you will get into UCSD and UCLA is a high match. Berkeley is a reach-low reach. Your essays must be really good; your scores are great but your GPA may pose some small problems.
