I just finished my junior year and I am very excited to begin applying to colleges. UW is one of my top choices and it is out of state. I am not interested in schools in my state (Arizona) and I am interested in studying animal biology/oceanography, with a big interest in Marine Mammals.

Racial stuff:
I'm half adopted (by my non biological father), Half Black, and Jewish and my family is white so I think I have a bit of diversity that could help me out. In an admissions letter I plan to talk about what it was like growing up as a different race from your entire family and challenges I've had or something along those lines.

GPA/Test scores/ ECs:
My high school is the best public high school in my city.
3.75 GPA. I will graduate having taken 4 AP classes, AP european history, AP Lit, AP world history, and AP Biology. NHS member.
Took the SAT once and I got a score of 1680. I am taking it again in a few weeks and expect to raise it to 1800+.
Taking the ACT in a few weeks and on practice tests tend to score around 27/28.

As far as extracurriculars go...
HS Tennis for 3 years and will be a co captain next year.
Board member VP, and will have been for 4 years, of my synagogue's regional youth group
Hebrew High (a 2 hour a week "school" at my synagogue that offers classes to continue a jewish education) all through high school.
Hostess in a mexican restaurant
2 years of speech and debate

Let me know if you think I have a good chance at UW seattle! Other schools I am interested in are Cal State Long beach, UC Santa Cruz/Santa Barbara, and University of Oregon so I would like to know if I have a chance at any of those also, California is too expensive to pay full price so I would need good scholarships to attend...
