My brother is a USC Alum. I interned at LNDC, a news station in the L.A. area, and an executive wrote a great letter of recommendation for me. The executive is currently getting his masters at USC and knows the staff very well. Also, my brother introduced me to one of his previous teachers, who is now an Associate Dean and we talk a lot. Does any of this have an influence if I will get in? I know my SAT is pretty bad.

With a great essay, what do you think my chances are? Thanks.

your SAT is low, but your brother is legacy and you have a lot of connect. your GPA is outstanding but for the most part, anyone with the connections you have would probably get in. i’d say chances are 90-95% try to bring up the SAT score

yea ur SAT is a bit low, i think at least a mid 1900 would help. i think their average sat is 1950 to 2100 something. Nice awards and extracurriculars though, and your brothers legacy will probably help especially if he knows the associates dean. Also your GPA is really good as well as your rank. With a great essay and with the type of recs you have, i’d say you have a really good chance, and like the above post says 90ish percent chance. Good luck! ^-^

Like the others said, your UW GPA should make up for your SAT score. And your ECs, awards, and recommendations are strong. Did you take the SAT IIs or any AP exams?

And your brother’s alum status will give you that extra boost!

On a side note, is your school really intense? You have an excellent GPA and you’re only 30/406 in your class? My school does not have THAT many 4.0/3.9ers…
