Chance me at UVA, UMich, Chapel Hill?

I am a junior waiting for my SAT scores, but I got a 195 on the PSAT.

GPA: 3.7 UW / 4.4 W

Current Schedule: AP World, AP Lang, AP Spanish Lang, AP Calc BC, Hon Chemistry, Communications 108 (at local community college)

Senior Schedule: AP Psych, Hon English 12, AP Physics, Multivariable Calc/Differential Eqns

ECs:
Spanish Honors Society
200 service hours from working with a non-profit, providing summer camp for underprivileged children
100 service hours from teaching Spanish to speakers of other languages
Financial director of county-wide SGA
Best Buddies
1 year football managing
1 year key club

I know, my ECs are weak :frowning:

UMich, UVA, Chapel Hill, and Berkeley are most likely the hardest schools I will be applying to.
Will chance back!

What state do you live in? I know that REALLY matters for UVA

I’m from Maryland. I’m pretty sure that makes it harder because so many Maryland kids apply there.

Without an SAT score of around 2150, I’m not so sure about these places. Honestly, it’s a crap shoot when you’re OOS applying to big state schools… Chance me back if possible? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1738675-chances-of-ucla-ucb-au-gw.html?new=1

For UMich, aim for 3.9 in GPA and 2200+ in SAT from OOS. Right now your GPA is below admission average and SAT (based on PSAT) is below the 25th percentile.

I’ve heard UNC Chapel Hill is really hard to get into if you’re not an in-state, legacy, or recruited athlete (exact words I saw on this site somewhere). Someone else has to evaluate your numbers, just thought I’d put that out there.

Hate to say it, but all of these schools are reaches for you. Your GPA would be adequate for these schools if you lived in state; UNC is EXTREMELY hard to get into OOS (might as well be applying to Princeton) and UVa is very selective for OOS as well. Work hard to get your GPA up and follow what you’re passionate about. Also, study very hard for standardized test scores, because they’re very important for schools such as UNC (I know the most about UNC of all of these schools because it’s my dream school and I live very close to it.) Good luck!
