Chance me???...B+ Blues

Is anyone willing to chance me please? I'm currently a junior. I'm 99% sure I'll end up with a B+ in bc calc this year, destroying/blemishing my transcript. I was thinking ED penn or cornell cause the chances are the best but I doubt either will be happening now. I was barely in the running before but calc has officially annihilated me. Other schools: Michigan (safety), Amherst, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Pomona, Mcgill, JHU, Northwestern. Should I even bother to apply to Columbia, Dartmouth, UChicago? I already know HPYMS would literally be paying almost 500 dollars to get rejected so def not applying. I don't even think those other schools (cept Michigan) are feasible.

As you can see my grades are mediocre, I haven't done 1000 hours of community service, and I'm not the president of 100 clubs, but I do enjoy what I do and most of it does reflect my desire to pursue medicine or my other passions (foreign lang & dancing). How screwed am I?

lol i doubt anyone will read this thread/my ramblings but if you do i'd love to hear what you think!

This is a bit annoying.

@Proudmom48 why?

Dude, chill out. I got three Bs throughout high school (all my other grades were As though; 3.93 UW GPA) and I recently got into UChicago, University of Michigan, and Georgetown early. My friend got around 6-7 Bs throughout high school and she got into Johns Hopkins ED last month with ECs around the same level as yours. One B+ isn’t going to kill you or even hurt you all that substantially… not even for HYPSM. Focus on your essays, getting good recs, etc. In the end, grades are just one of many factors.

I agree. This is extremely annoying.

Dude you are completely fine. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1609142-chance-me-i-will-definately-100-chance-you-back.html

Wow, that’s a lot of typing.

I don’t want to say that grades aren’t important, but they’re certainly not as big a deal as you’re making it. The “holistic” (haha) approach will consider grades, but try to place more of an emphasis on your EC’s instead or something pleasant if you really can’t do anything about your classes. You’ve already tried the best you can for what it’s worth, and that should say something about your applying these positive characteristics towards other endeavors. Don’t worry about it! I know that anecdotal evidence doesn’t always afford the best comfort, but I know plenty of people who’ve made it into HYPSM and who knows where else with plenty of B’s (seriously). Just don’t let it affect you overall, as there are many many more things that admissions will be looking at. I know this is just a regurgitation of every other piece of advice ever offered to college hopefuls, but I hope this helps.
