<p>White, male.
SAT-800 math, 740 CR, 720 WR (11 on essay)
SATIIs (projections based on practice tests)-750-800 Math II, 800 Span., 770-800 Pysics
GPA-not quite sure about weighted, I go to a really rigorous magnet school (23 in nation for pubic schools), we don't even offer regular courses, only honors and AP, except for gym and health, so all of my As (at least 10 over 100) are in honors/AP. UW-3.9
APs - Phsyics B, Spanish Lang, Eng Lang - all 4 or 5s, don't know yet.
Junior courses - Precal/Trig (hon), health, AP Span., Phys B, US Hist. (hon), AP Eng.
Senior courses- AP Phys C, AP Calc BC, AP Lit., AP Span Lit., AP Micro Econ, Gov (hon), and gym
Awards - Some dept. awards, Harvard Book Award, Nat. Honor Role, Nat. Society of High School Scholars, Writers Showcase
ECs - volunteer tutoring with Somalian refugees, Spanish Honor Soc, Spanish tutoring, exchange to Spain and Arg. (didn't go to Arg. due to health probs, but I'm going to host the student and will go next year), French lessons on side, advanced spanish conversational group (notice a pattern developing?), working in a lab with a fairly famous guy at Vanderbilt dealing with binocular perception, playing sitar - a classical Indian instrument for a long time, and what I'm most proud of - working for 3 straight years in a Mexican restaurant and eventually being promoted to Manager, Soy puro blue collar, guey ;).
Plans - EA to U Chicago and MIT
RD at Harvard (legacy, but only father and cousin, neither of whom are big time donors), Brown, Yale, U Penn, possibly Princeton, U Minnesota, U Texas - Austin</p>
<p>U Chicago - Match
MIT - Far Reach
Harvard - Reach (maybe a match due to legacY)
Brown - Slight Reach
Yale - Far Reach
U Penn - Slight Reach
Princeton - Far Reach
U Minnesota - Safety
U Texas - Austin - Safety</p>
<p>Come on people, I want something more tangible. None of this high reach, low reach business.</p>
<p>U Minnnesota and U Texas have very high acceptance rates and their average stats are significantly lower than yours. I am pretty sure you will get in. Harvard weighs legacy a lot so you have a much better chance at it than at other Ivies. The upper ivies are unpredictable so I can't say anything about them.
Based on your stats, I would say that you will get in at least a third of these schools.</p>
<p>Cool, thanks for your insight. That was more helpful. I understand it's impossible to say for sure or even to say one has a good chance at the upper level ivies.</p>
<p>A lot of people we thought were gonna get into Ivies didn't. And people we never expected to get in got in. A lot of people get into Ivies based on donations and legacies so it is becoming even more competitive for the average person. Ivies also look for specific special abilities besides perfect grades and SATs. You know never if you got something they are looking for.</p>
<p>Wise words, wise words.</p>
<p>White, cocky, male</p>
<p>Haha, that was funny :)</p>
<p>eek ur SAT scores a bit low for some of those schools u prob wanna bring it up to 760+ on CR and writing to have a real shot</p>
<p>a little low? he got a 1540 and a 2260 on the old scale. he's in the top 1% in the nation and above average for all of those schools.
i don't see a lot of really timeconsuming or passionate EC's but test score wise, you look fine. and ur courseload is great. my predictions (more risky than chances so i think it's fun)
