Chance Me - BC ED2 CO2026

Hey!
Feeling nervous, just putting this out there
White Male from Suburb near Boston
Public School, 153 kids
My grandma attended BC, but there was no place on the application to fill that out:

Applying to Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences

*Weighted GPA: 4.364/4 (top 10%, barely) (Upward trend) (B- in algebra 2 accelerated in 9th grade, yikes) *
Not submitting SAT scores (I scored a 28 ACT composite, really tanked the English portion)

Coursework
8 AP Courses up to my Senior Year (4 on Bio and APUSH, only ones worth submitting, took bio, comp sci a, lang, apush. Taking ap calc, apes, ap lit, and ap psych currently)
*rec letters from apush teacher (very close to), and psych teacher. My boss is also writing an extra recommendation letter.

Awards/Honors: National History Day State Finalist 2020, National Honors Society, First-Degree Black Belt

Extracurriculars
Senior Class Treasurer, Model UN Club President, Varsity Tennis, Drama all four years, Full-time job in the summer, part-time in the fall (Assistant Director), Tae Kwon Do up until my senior year.

Essays
I feel that my essay is pretty strong, leaning towards more of a comedic tone, my AP Lit teacher said it’s the funniest essay she has read, which I think was a compliment…

Definitely need financial aid: Both of my parents work two jobs, sister in college (WPI), don’t want to put my parents under too much stress.

I know that Boston College is my dream school, but I don’t want to prematurely submit my supplement, which I’m yet to complete.
Any suggestions? Should I retake the ACT to get a superscore?

If you got a 28 you likely can’t make the difference to get it to a 32-33 you need.

So your parents are struggling. Have you run the net price calculator to ensure you can afford BC?

While you get credit for a sibling in school you typically don’t get credit for their being in private school.

So you should not apply ED if you are not sure about affordability.

There are many schools you would go for cheap so while BC may be your choice, no pointing getting your folks into financial issues. IF you go ED I think BC is a reach. But not impossible.

Your essay sounds fun. And that’s good.

Good luck.

What is your unweighted GPA, core courses only, on a 4 point scale?

Echoing the affordability point, have you run BC’s net price calculator with your parents? Net Price Calculator

A little over a 3.8 unweighted. we’ve run the net price and we’ve basically determined that it’ll be good enough, especially considering I’ve worked full time every summer I have enough saved up to contribute a good amount.
