I've been talking to my friends about college apps and the colleges that I've chosen are mainly based on what my parents and teachers suggested. But I honestly have no idea if I'll get in. Maybe my list has too many reaches, but I don't know because I am the first person in my family to go to college in America. My parents went to grad school in America, but they don't know anything about undergrad.

The colleges I'm interested in are:
UT Austin (I hope to get into the BHP program or just business while double majoring in Plan II)
Barnard College (womens college in NYC)
Boston Uni (a good place to be if I go into economics)
Carnegie Mellon University (great engineering and in Pittsburgh)
Case Western Reserve University (I think this might be a match. Good engineering)
Cornell University (My cousin went there and she's having a great time there with LA program)
Georgia Institute of Technology (good engineering, JK great engineering)
New York University (I don't want to be the typical Wall Street person)
University of Southern California (good location if I want to do engineering)
WashU

I'm from a public high school in South TX. Most of the people in our school go to state flagships like UT Austin and College Station. A few go to mini-Ivies like Colby and Colgate. One or two people get full-rides to places like UPitt. Our region isn't that competitive, but our high school is the best in the area (still not saying much).

I was foolish and took mainly Pre-AP classes for most of high school. I've taken 3 AP classes so far. My senior course load is AP Eng Lit, AP Calc, AP Bio, AP Enviro. Sci, AP Gov't, and newspaper.

Freshman year I did basically nothing for EC's.

I've played piano for 9 years and have auditioned for the National Piano Guild for 5 years with superior rating.

I have to fund raise upwards of $15,000 for SciOly and BPA because most of the money in our high school goes to athletics. I'm organizing the first winter festival for our community to raise money for clubs and I've contacted businesses for donations and I'm emailing campus principals and the superintendent of our district on a weekly basis about organizing the festival. I think this shows leadership on my part.

Counselor rec might be shaky because i've only talked to her 5 times in 4 years. Teacher recs should be good because they asked me to be their TA :)

I'm a female Asian and I just want to get out of my town. I'm interested in Environmental Science and Economics while hopefully double majoring in Liberal Arts. What are my chances? Also, if anyone could read over my college essay, that would be super helpful! And if you have any suggestions for other colleges, please post :)
