New to CC, just wanted to get an opinion of my chances of getting into certain schools. I’m applying to these schools and hoping to major in either Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering: UCSD, UCLA, UCI, UCD, UCB, Cal Poly SLO, University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon, UPenn, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Stanford, Georgia Tech.

I know I’m lacking in terms of AP classes, but I have taken all possible AP courses possible at my school along with a long list of college courses. Overall, I feel like I’m pretty average in about every statistic and I don’t really have anything that stands out. I’m not too hopeful about my chances of getting into some of the top tier schools (JHU, Stanford, MIT, UPenn, etc). Getting into Berkeley would be my dream scenario, but I think UCSD is more of a realistic choice for me. What do you guys think?

I agree with you that UCSD is more realistic for you (match), but there are possibilities with UCB & UCLA as well (low reach to high match). You should be able to make it to the other UCs.

You will definitely get into the lower-tiered UCs. UCSD is a high chance as well, and I think you have a shot at UCLA. Berkeley is unpredictable sometimes. Good luck!

Probably really late, but dont worry man. I just got into Berkeley and SD with a UC GPA of 4.1 and an SAT of 1380 (Yes, out of 2400!) I believe that maybe it was my Essays that got me in or IDK but good luck. It is crazy though how the Valedictorian at my school who has an 1800 on the sat and 4.2 GPA didnt get in.

1380 and 1800!? What is going on at this high school?!?!?

Hahhha @Burdened nothing is going on. Just a regular high school in northern California. 1800 got her into Stanford though so she’s good
