Chance me @ Boston College? Will chance back.

<p>Stats:
- African-American male (URM) from Los Angeles, California.
- I go to a private Catholic school that mainly sends seniors to different California colleges and universities. I don't want to follow the trend (unless it's USC or UCSD).
- Cumulative GPA: 3.4 (RL issues freshman and sophomore year; I'll elaborate on my applications. Everyone says I have "a story to tell." Junior year GPA: 3.64) Senior year GPA will be a 3.8-4.2 and will boost my GPA to about a 3.5.
- ACT: 30
- I was a tutor for Spanish II students and tutored 2-3 times a week.
- 4 honors courses and 1 AP course - all math classes; taking Honors PreCalculus and AP Statistics for senior year. I've taken Public Speaking and Spanish III at my local Community College and earned A's in both; taking Introduction to Business this summer.
- I've started an non-profit organization for lung cancer patients who don't receive the right treatment due to not having medical insurance (in memory of my aunt).
- I've been a professional actor with an agent since I was 5 1/2 months old. Since then I've established a pretty long resume and been in numerous TV shows, commercials, billboards, print ads, etc.
- I'm in NHS and CSF.
- Will have great essays and recommendations (I hope).
- If it helps to create any sort of diversity, I will major in Finance/Economics and minor in Acting or Theater.
- I have about 200 hours of community service.
- I'm part of a Church youth group (and choir) who goes witnessing every year and goes to places like Skid Row to offer words of encouragement and gifts/food to the needy people there.
- I have participated in many church plays and musicals and usually have rehearsal 3-4 times a week.</p>

<p>Chance me please? :)</p>

<p><strong><em>EDIT</em></strong>
Chance me at USC or UC Berkeley as well? Thanks :)</p>

<p><strong><em>EDIT #2</em></strong>
I'm going to visit Boston College within the next two weeks. Is there anything that I should ask anybody while I'm there?</p>

<p>I think you have a strong shot at BC. Also look at Holy Cross while at BC. Holy Cross is just 30 miles west of BC and is 20 years older than BC and 1/3 the size (3000 students versus 9000). Both are run by the New England Jesuits. List of all 28 Jesuit colleges from most known to least: [Jesuit</a> Colleges and Universities Quiz Results - sporcle](<a href=“http://www.sporcle.com/games/jesuit_colleges_results.php]Jesuit”>http://www.sporcle.com/games/jesuit_colleges_results.php)</p>

<p>I’m just hoping that my ECs will make up for my less-than-stellar GPA.
Is there anything else that I could do within a summer that would look good on my application?</p>

<p>Bumpity bump bump.</p>

<p>No for BC and berkeley. USc seems like a reach. Barely any challenging courses. 1 ap is definitely no enough for UCB or BC.</p>

<p>UC Berkeley – Low Reach
Boston College – Low Reach
USC – Low Reach</p>

<p>You have a decent shot at all three of them, but I would get like an absolute safety where you would def get in. How about UCSB or UCD as a safety? Even though I would bet that you would get into probably 1 or 2 out ofthe above three.</p>

<p>Well you certainly have the edge with affirmative action. Your ACt scores look good enough for boston. Your GPA is a bit sketchy, but of course there is always the essay to help you there. You need good recs.
If all goes well , ithink you have a decent chacne overall</p>

<p><a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/732235-chance-asian-male-into-schools-will-chance-back.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/732235-chance-asian-male-into-schools-will-chance-back.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>the fact that you are a minority with good leadership helps you more than anything…</p>

<p>I think you can get into BC; financial aid is another question, and BC is known for being pricey…</p>

<p>My chance thread is the near the top, the one about penn and returning the favor…thanks, and good luck!</p>

<p>I don’t think USC does ED or EA, unfortunately. If I applied EA/ED to Berkeley, would I have anymore of a realistic shot?</p>
